The Cancer Plasticity and Dormancy Program is one of the seven scientific strategic programs at the Garvan focusing on accelerating research from fundamental discovery to transformational impact. The Cancer Plasticity and Dormancy Program is dedicated to discovering new treatment paradigms to target currently incurable metastatic and relapsing cancers. Our research focuses on cancers that spread to the skeleton including, multiple myeloma, and breast and prostate cancer. Our program brings together research expertise and cutting-edge technologies from across Garvan, along with clinical, industry and consumer partners. We aim to better predict which patients will relapse and develop new treatments to stop cancer relapse. THE OPPORTUNITY We are seeking to appoint a Project Coordinator to support program wide activities. This is a newly created role required to support the programs growth. We are looking for someone with a strong research background with either a PhD or extensive experience working in academic environments and with a thorough understanding of the medical research field. The Project Coordinator will work closely with the Program Directors, Program Manager and Clinical Research Manager to progress the scientific and clinical research objectives of the program. This position is ideal for someone who is highly proactive and is looking to expand their expertise in the research management space. Support the Programs communications strategy, including website updates, and coordinate stakeholder engagement. Survey Program operations to identify areas of development or potential risk, and work with the Program leadership to address those issues. Update the Program Directors research profiles (biosketch, CV, ORCID) and grant management portal information. Project coordination and collaboration Provide support to the Program Manager and the Clinical Research Manager. Work across multiple platforms (e.g., Google workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack). Update trackers and project management tools to streamline communication and collaboration. Oversee, prepare and implement team organisation and activities. General administrative support Coordinate diaries and arrange appointments, meetings and functions for the Program leadership team. Facilitate communication across the Program, including preparing documents, emails, briefings to keep members informed, track activity and facilitate programs progress. Use institutional online management systems (human resources, procurement & finance) to coordinate job requisitions and changes, purchase order submission and expenses and track expenditure as per Directors'' delegations. ABOUT YOU The key skills and experience of a Project Coordinator include: Essential: Masters degree in science, medicine or health discipline and a minimum of 3 years research experience. Strong computer skills using Google workspace, Microsoft 365 and willingness to use any other software tools as required (e.g., Trello, Slack). Detail orientated, clear thinking and willing to implement creative solutions. Highly organised with a strong commitment to quality. Team player who can work independently and thrives on a fast-paced, demanding environment. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with tight deadlines; versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work with constantly changing priorities. Effective time management skills. Exceptional written and verbal communication including the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
