Your role at St John of God Geelong Hospital You will work alongside the Multi-disciplinary team to provide clinical music therapy services to clients/patients using evidence based clinical practice skills. Ensures practice is in accordance to the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA) Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice and SJGHC policies and guidelines The Position Complete patient assessment, plan, organise and deliver prescribed music therapy activities as part of the holistic care of the patient/client to influence improvements in health and well-being. Collaborate with other Caregivers and multi-disciplinary teams when planning music activities in accordance with patients/clients physical, spiritual or psychological needs, capabilities and interests. Direct and participate in instrumental and vocal music activities designed to meet patients/clients physical, spiritual or psychological needs, such as solo or group singing, rhythmic and other creative music activities and music listening. Instruct patients/clients individually or in groups in prescribed instrumental or vocal music and music projective techniques such as guided imagery or progressive relaxation. Provide education to patients/clients and caregivers about the role of Music Therapy. Responsible for completing appropriate administrative duties arising from each session. This requires liaison with the office administration team, reporting of statistical data and completion of clinical documentation You will have a degree in music and postgraduate qualification in music therapy with eligibility for membership and registration with the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA) and demonstrate ability to provide skilled and professional Music Therapy including group therapy, and music therapy in response to sound evaluative processes.
