Alzheimers Queensland is a leading provider of aged care services, offering a range of community care options, including the Home Care Package program, to older Australians who wish to remain independent and engaged in their communities. AQ is expanding its services, and we are now looking for a Dementia and Aged Care Consultant to join on a 12 month fixed term basis. Position Overview The Dementia and Aged Care Consultant is responsible for managing helpline calls and facilitating the placement of clients within AQ services. This role will also involve working as a liaison consultant in residential and community settings, supporting clients, residents, and staff while ensuring a high standard of care in line with the organizations mission and values. Key responsibilities include managing the Dementia Helpline, providing information and support to clients and service providers, and collaborating with various teams to ensure operational goals are met. This position requires ongoing professional development and adherence to compliance standards within the aged care sector. Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in aged care and dementia support, demonstrating compassion and commitment to client welfare. Demonstrated experience in residential or community-based human services related to aged care. Formal qualification in a related field of either Social Work, Allied Health, Nursing and/or significant experience working with clients in the delivery of a community-based service or within a health-related field. Sound knowledge of dementia care principles and the Charter of Aged Care Rights. Excellent customer service skills and the ability to manage challenging situations effectively. Proficient in digital applications and communication tools relevant to the role. Candidates should be adaptable, possess strong problem-solving skills, and be able to work independently while contributing to team success.
