About the role At the forefront of Australias energy transformation, AEMOs System Design division leads the strategic planning of our evolving power system. As the nation accelerates towards a renewable future, driven by the electrification of transport, industry, and beyond were seeing an unprecedented surge in transmission and distribution connection projects. The Onboarding and Connections group play a pivotal role in this transition, overseeing the end-to-end process of connecting, registering, and commissioning new generators into the National Electricity Market (NEM). With over 160 GW of new generation forecasted to connect over the next three decades, youll be at the heart of integrating cutting-edge technologies, from wind, solar and hydro to battery storage and hydrogen plants. This is your opportunity to help shape a cleaner, more resilient energy future. What you will be doing Lead a high-performing technical team focused on OEM modelling of generating systems and technical support across all phases of the generator connections process, from pre-application through to application and registration. This role also includes driving technical capability development and overseeing the teams day-to-day operations. Drive regulatory excellence by providing strategic support and ensuring seamless integration of technical reform outcomes stemming from the Connection Reform initiatives (CRI). Facilitate strategic discussions with OEMs, developers, and Network Service Providers (NSPs) to align on modelling activities and address system strength challenges, ensuring collaborative, technically sound outcomes. Contribute to the central hub of technical expertise on emerging technologies, while actively engaging with the Power System Modelling Reference Group (PSMRG) to shape industry-leading modelling practices. Champion a culture of service and collaboration, where trusted client partnerships and teamwork drive shared success. What you will bring to the role Relevant tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or other discipline relevant to power system analysis. Chartership electrical engineering credential is well regarded. Proven track record of successfully leading medium to large-scale technical teams, delivering complex projects with precision and impact. Demonstrated experience in cultivating and elevating technical expertise within teams through structured, transparent, and empowering leadership approach. Extensive hands-on experience in generator plant modelling, with deep knowledge of the national Electricity Market (NEM) generator connection process. Decisive and transparent in decision-making, thriving in high-visibility environments where accountability and clarity are key.
