A little about the role The purpose of our newly established Safeguarding Specialist role is to support the safety and wellbeing of children and young people via the implementation and embedding of best practice in child safeguarding and the delivery of a high standard of care and practice excellence across our programs. Reporting directly to the Safeguarding Partner, you will work closely with Jurisdictional Leads and Quality Leads, the Cultural Practice Collective, Chrysalis (our internal transformation hub) and KAA Therapists to contribute to building a culture of safeguarding excellence across KAA. Some of the key responsibilities include: Working with the Safeguarding Partner to support the implementation and embedding of Key Assets Child Safeguarding Framework and Action Plan, ensuring a national approach to safeguarding practices and activities. Working closely with key department to ensure that accountability to voice and the participation of children, families and carers is centered in our policies, procedures and practice guidance. Contribute to and facilitate an operationally focused national Quality Leads group that collaborates on high level national service delivery policies, procedures and practice guidance that are aligned with local operational needs. Support the Safeguarding Partner with serious incident investigations and reviews where required. Support the monitoring and analysis of national incidents, complaints and other operational data sets including child wellbeing measures, carer recruitment metrics and survey data; making suggestions for opportunities to enhance practice. The base salary for this position is $106,389.92 - $111,092.80 /annum (based on 1.0EFT) super salary packaging options up to $15,900 per annum. This position is full-time, ongoing. You can be based at any of our offices, nationally! About you The successful candidate will come with: A bachelors degree in social work, psychology or related discipline. Prior experience working directly with children, young people, their families and providing care that safeguards and promotes their wellbeing. Demonstrated experience in safeguarding leadership in the children and families or community services sector. Experience in writing policy, procedure and practice guides and supporting implementation, embedding and evaluation processes. Knowledge of the National Child Safe Principles and jurisdictional standards and regulatory obligations in the children and families or community services sector. Proven highly developed interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence and excellent engagement skills.
