You will thrive on developing policies and advocating for initiatives that will reduce road fatalities and serious injuries. As a Public Policy Advisor Road Safety , you will play a key role in RACs Public Policy team, providing credible, technically sound, fact-based research and advice to support RACs 2030 Vision for a safer WA. This role is offered on a 12 month Maximum Term contract to cover parental leave, the ideal start date will be towards the end of August 2025. Key Responsibilities Conduct research and data analysis to support RACs road safety policy positions. Prepare reports, papers, submissions, and communication materials , including presentations and briefing notes. Develop and maintain datasets , including crash data, and analyse them using tools like MS Excel and Power BI. Assist with questionnaire development, analysis, and reporting for RAC-generated surveys. Engage with government, industry, and external consultants , including collaboration on technical projects. Draft expert responses to road safety queries from members and external organisations. Represent RAC on external committees and working groups . Contribute to RACs external communications , including media releases, social media, magazine and website content. Investigate and identify advocacy opportunities on road safety issues that benefit the community. About You Were looking for a strategic thinker with a passion for road safety. Youll have: A tertiary qualification in Economics, Statistics, Law, Public Policy, Planning, Social Research, or a related discipline. Experience in undertaking desktop research and in drafting policy positions, discussion papers, and submissions . Professional experience in advocacy, transport authorities, government, consultancy, or similar organisations . Knowledge or experience in road safety policy (desirable). Strong research and data analysis skills , including experience developing and analysing surveys (desirable). Excellent written and verbal communication skills , with a keen eye for detail. Ability to collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders and represent RAC in external forums. Proven ability to plan and organise work priorities within specified timeframes.
