Our APAC Hydrology and Hydrogeology Team Our 50 person Hydrogeology and Hydrology (H&H) Technical Discipline is one of the largest in SLR Asia Pacific and, as such, is core business. Our business plan focuses on the expansion and enhancement of core business, building on a solid foundation of work with Tier 1 clients in Mining, Infrastructure, Renewables, and Industry. We are seeking a motivated groundwater professional to join our team and drive the growth of our mature technical team by leveraging new opportunities with existing clients and forging partnerships with new ones. This role is for an Associate Hydrogeologist reporting to our QLD State Lead. We have an adaptable operational approach, and the role can be based in either our Brisbane or Townsville offices, where we have existing teams of 16 and 5 staff, respectively. This position is ideal for someone looking to advance their career by applying their practical knowledge of hydrogeology and leading projects across various industries in collaboration with strong technical teams. We work in a collaborative environment across our H&H teams in Brisbane, Townsville, Newcastle, Wollongong, Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth, and closely with other SLR environmental specialists. The group delivers projects across SLR''s market sectors, including Mining & Minerals, Built Environment, Infrastructure, Industry, and Power. Our 2025 project focus is on: Resource projects for a variety of commodities through the complete Project life cycle. Expanding our portfolio in infrastructure and energy (renewables) Leveraging our groups status as SLRs Global Centre of Excellence, following very successful international collaboration with our global offices, to do even more overseas work. To be successful in this role you will need: 6-12 years industry experience as a hydrogeologist, including consultancy experience Appropriate Engineering or Science tertiary qualification A strong technical background in hydrogeological conceptualisation, groundwater impact assessment, hydrogeological investigation (analytical and/or numerical modelling skills are also highly regarded) Applied, practical knowledge of hydrogeological data collection and fieldwork management experience A strong commitment to Health and Safety Demonstrated experience in managing and delivering large technical projects, including references for ability to navigate time, cost and scope constraints. Strong communication skills related to overseeing early-career staff and coordinating project delivery teams. Skills in leveraging technical experience to provide advice and assistance to internal and external clients, team members and Project Managers on projects regarding best principles and practices Excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivation and ability to work effectively within a team A thorough understanding of QLD groundwater legislation and guidelines related to resource development and infrastructure projects, and a working knowledge of other National and State groundwater legislation, policies, standards and guidelines An entrepreneurial attitude towards winning work by identifying and converting opportunities through developing and building on client relationships Ability to develop, facilitate and enhance relationships with our internal and external clients to maintain and grow SLRs brand in the region.
