Diary And Administrative Officer (EOA) - Senator Carol Brown, Senator for Tasmania Australian Government - Hobart, TAS Administration & Secretarial Job Description The office of Senator Carol Brown is seeking applications for a full-time, ongoing Electorate Officer (EOA), based in the Parliamentarians Electorate Office in Hobart, TAS. Position Overview The Parliamentarian is seeking an enthusiastic and capable person with strong communication and organisational skills to join the team as a Diary and Administrative Officer. The role involves managing the Senators diary and providing support and advice across various subjects to both the Parliamentarian and community members. This position offers administrative and clerical support to ensure the effective operation of the electorate office. The successful candidate will work within a small team undertaking diverse administrative activities, often under strict time constraints and with minimal supervision. The role requires professionalism, confidentiality, discretion, emotional intelligence, and excellent communication skills. Key Duties Serve as the first point of contact for constituents and visitors, resolving issues and answering queries courteously and promptly. Manage the Parliamentarians diary, including appointments and travel logistics. Assist with administrative tasks such as invoice payments, supplies management, data entry, and database management. Facilitate voter contact and manage correspondence. Liaise with government departments and other organisations, organize functions and meetings. Support a safe, respectful, and inclusive workplace culture. Travel intrastate as required. Perform other duties as directed. Ideal Candidate Academic qualifications in business management, economics, law, or related fields are desirable. Experience in office administration, stakeholder engagement, customer service, and event management. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups. Understanding of Australias parliamentary system and processes. Proactive, motivated, and able to work independently and in a team. Discretion, confidentiality, and professional integrity. Excellent oral and written communication skills with attention to detail. Strong IT skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Excellent organisational and time management skills. Employment Conditions The position is under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2024-27, offering a salary between $71,808 and $76,022, negotiable based on experience. An additional allowance of up to $17,896 may be available for extra hours and travel. Other benefits include potential relocation and study assistance, paid study leave, and a superannuation contribution of 15.4%. Initial probation of three months applies, with possible extension. The successful applicant may need to undergo a National Police History Check and must comply with Behaviour Codes and Standards. For employment with a Minister or Parliamentary Secretary, a Negative Vetting 2 security clearance is required.
