Job Description

The Mindarie Regional Council (MRC) is one of Western Australias largest waste management authorities, assisting its member councils mainly in Perths northern corridor, managing municipal solid waste for a population of about 800,000.The Role: MRC is positioning itself as a sustainable regional authority recognized for leadership, innovation, and excellence. This role manages the procurement framework, supports strategic projects, and procures contracts for new projects approved by the MRC Council.The Procurement Manager reports to the Executive Manager of Corporate Services and is responsible for procurement activities in line with council policies and local government regulations.The Salary: $127k to $145k, depending on skills and experience, plus benefits including:Up to 18.5% Employer superannuation contributionFull-time, 76 hours per fortnight22 days annual leave plus 17.5% loadingHealth and Wellbeing programEmployee Assistance ProgramTraining and development opportunitiesFree car parking13 weeks Long Service Leave (after 10 years service), pro-rata after 7 yearsSelection Criteria:Tertiary qualifications in Business Management, Procurement, Contract Management, or similarLeadership skills with the ability to guide and provide feedback to staffExtensive knowledge of procurement processes and complianceHigh-level communication skills (written and oral)Experience in contract developmentAbility to analyze and interpret dataAbility to prioritize within tight timelinesCommitment to achieving outcomesKnowledge of government procurement processes (desirable)Knowledge of the waste industry (desirable)The Council maintains a strong Wellness Policy with random drug and alcohol testing.
