One that is equitable and prioritises learning and wellbeing.Together we will make our education system the best it can be.When our children and young people thrive, so do our communities and our state.About The RoleThe Aboriginal Education Directorate works collaboratively across the department, government at the state and national level, the non-government sector and the Aboriginal community to provide a strengthened Aboriginal focus to strategic policy and service delivery to improve outcomes in education and wellbeing for Aboriginal children, young people and their families.The Policy and Project Officer within the Aboriginal Education Directorate is responsible for the delivery of a range of high-level policy, projects and research that are designed to expedite and ensure effective, high-quality briefing and information flows from the Aboriginal Education Directorate to the Executive Director - Curriculum and Learning, the Chief Executive, and Minister.The position provides high level policy and document writing and editing services that are based on contemporary writing styles, aligning with the aspiration, guiding principles, commitments and actions under the Aboriginal Education Strategy and the Reconciliation Action Plan and requires an extensive knowledge of government policies and operations. The Policy and Project Officer also develops and maintains effective networks with key stakeholders across Department for Education sites, relevant services and their personnel, as well as with a range of external agencies and organisations to ensure the best quality outcomes.The Department for Education is committed to an education system that produces positive education outcomes for Aboriginal learners in alignment with the Aboriginal Education Strategy 2019-2029 and the Strategy for Public Education in South Australia.QualificationsEssential: NilDesirable: A relevant tertiary qualification.Special ConditionsThe successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.
