They will monitor the wellbeing of their crew and work closely with the relevant Project Manager and Project Supervisor to fulfill the companys obligations for execution of multiple projects companywide.Main Tasks: Direct, control and manage barge operations aboard the Jack-Up Barge, ensuring effective coordination between crew members and adherence to operational protocols. Develop an thorough working knowledge of the vessels operational procedures, operational limits, mechanical and safety systems, and act as the key point of contact for the vessel. Assist in cultivating a learning and supportive working environment where employees are highly valued as Marine Infrastructure Specialists Conduct barge inductions, safety inspections, hazard identification, risk assessments and incident reporting associated with barge operations. Implement and enforce safety management systems and practices and ensure emergency drills such as fire drills, man overboard drills, and muster drills are routinely carried out and captured in accordance with the Safety Management Plan (SMP). Prepare, maintain and make familiar, specific SWMS for the relative High Risk barge activities, outline control measures to be implemented, and update management of change processes when deemed necessary. Ensure all policy and procedures specified in the Safety Management Plan (SMP) and Safe Operating Procedures (SOP) are adhered to and familiar to the crew. Plan barge and vessel movements to sufficient detail to ensure that appropriate resources and equipment are fully met, including monitoring and forecasting appropriate weather/tidal windows to ensure that activities are conducted safely and efficiently. Oversee the interpretations of navigational instruments and positioning of the Jack-Up Barge, ensuring precise placement and stability in various marine and weather conditions. Plans and schedules a vessel''s route, considering factors such as weather, tides and other requirements. Conduct pre-tow barge checks ensuring compliance with naval architects assessments of towing arrangement, deck sea fastenings, spud lashings, emergency anchors etc. Ensure all operations comply with Australian maritime law, regulations, safety procedures and industry standards, maintaining all necessary documentation and certifications. Lead, mentor, and train crew members, fostering a collaborative and skilled team environment while managing shift schedules and crew performance. Ensure crew understand barge operation limits, jacking operations, preloading techniques and environmental constraints that may affect barge operations Coordinate regular maintenance and inspections of the vessels equipment and systems, ensuring operational readiness and compliance with safety regulations. Ensure Asset Panda prestart checks are completed, and all maintenance faults reported. Ensure effective and concise communications are implemented during barge movements and anchor operations, effectively communicating and liaising with barge crew, port authorities, other vessels, company management and staff. Develop and implement emergency procedures and response plans, ensuring the crew is trained and prepared for any potential incidents, such as accidents, storms or unforeseen events.Key requirements At least an AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma, or at least five years of relevant experience is a must. Coxswain, Master 4, Master 5 (or international equivalents) Highly beneficial but not mandatory Marine Engine Driver 2 (or international equivalents) - beneficial but not mandatory Minimum 5 years experience within the marine industry, inc. vessel operation and management, for example; as a Bargemaster/Vessel Master and are able to demonstrate an understanding of its associated responsibilities. Relevant marine industry certifications, such as First Aid, Survival at Sea, and Marine Safety Management - beneficial but not mandatory Extensive knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements regarding vessel operation and management. Training in dynamic positioning systems and emergency response procedures is preferred. National Police CheckRemunerationMaritime Constructions is pleased to offer a generous above the relevant award base salary plus superannuation depending on work experience and qualifications.The specific package will be offered depending upon the meeting of the above selection criteria and including past experience.
