This role plays a key part in ensuring traffic and transport-related investigations are delivered in line with legislation, community needs, and Councils strategic direction. The role suits someone who thrives on complex problem-solving, has a strong background in civil or traffic engineering, and values collaboration. You will be joining a supportive, experienced team committed to continuous improvement and delivering quality infrastructure outcomes for our region.What Your Day Will Look LikeConduct traffic and road infrastructure investigations, including safety audits, permit assessments, and traffic count analysis.Provide technical advice to internal and external stakeholders on traffic and transport matters.Oversee and mentor Investigations Officers and consult with planning and engineering teams to align project goals.Support funding submissions and contribute to short and long-term transport infrastructure planning.Conduct site inspections and community consultations to ensure solutions are practical and informed.Please click here to view a full position description.What Youll Need For SuccessDiploma or higher in Civil Engineering or relevant field (or ability to obtain within 12 months) OR demonstrated experience in traffic/road investigations.Excellent communication, report writing and people skills with strong customer service focus.Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, standards (e.g. Austroads, MUTCD), and local government procedures.Proven ability to lead and coach team members, deliver technical investigations, and manage project workflows.Whats Nice To HaveExperience working in local government infrastructure environments.Practical understanding of traffic management implementation.Knowledge of funding processes for transport infrastructure programs (e.g. TIDS, Black Spot).Benefits Of Working With CouncilCommitted to providing quality services to our community, we strongly support an inclusive and values driven culture, recognising your individual skills, knowledge, and talent.
