Be part of a team that''s inclusive, diverse, and driven to make a difference.DescriptionMonash is seeking an experienced and strategic Deputy Treasurer to join the Treasury and Investments team, within the Chief Financial Officer and Office of the Senior Vice-President Finance.This is a strategic leadership role overseeing the development, implementation, and management of Monash''s treasury function, including liquidity management, currency and interest rate hedging, investments, debt portfolio, and risk mitigation.You will manage a team of Treasury professionals and lead a transformation of the Treasury function.Key Responsibilities:Lead and manage the treasury function, ensuring alignment with university policies and strategic priorities.Oversee the transformation and modernization of treasury systems, including integration into the ERP and process improvements.Support the Treasurer with debt portfolio management, strategy, investor relations, and refinancing.Maximize investment returns and manage risks in short and long-term portfolios, ensuring governance and control.Champion ESG principles across investment and debt activities, aligning with sustainability goals.Monitor and be accountable for financial risks, including liquidity, interest rates, foreign exchange, credit, and market risks.Prepare and present reports on portfolio performance, ESG initiatives, liquidity, and debt management.Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to staff and stakeholders involved in transaction structuring and implementation.Develop partnerships with other business units and provide expert treasury advice.ProfileIdeal Background: Candidates should have corporate treasury and/or asset management experience, preferably in large, complex organizations. Experience in transforming treasury functions, including system upgrades and process improvements, is highly regarded. Extensive staff management skills are necessary.Technical skills: Relevant tertiary qualifications and professional credentials (CA / CPA / CFA) are required. Experience in strategic treasury operations and a continuous improvement mindset are sought. Prior experience in managing modern treasury functions, with asset management knowledge, is preferred.Behavioral attributes: Proven management and leadership skills, hands-on treasury operational experience, and strategic engagement with executives are essential.
