Youth Caseworker & Mentoring Support21 hrs pw (Level 4, SCHADS Award 2025) Gosford Area High SchoolsAbout Volunteering Central CoastJoin a small, passionate team dedicated to strengthening community connection and wellbeing across the NSW Central Coast. In addition to supporting hundreds of volunteers and over 60 local organisations, we deliver community-focused programs that build resilience and tackle social isolation. Our Youth Support programa targeted early intervention (TEI) initiative in two local high schoolscombines dedicated casework with a vibrant mentoring scheme to help students aged 1217 set goals, access supports and thrive.Why You''ll Love Working HereAutonomy within a close-knit team: Manage your own caseload and mentor matches, with direct support from the Executive Officer and Youth Programs team.Flexible arrangements: 21 hrs/week with scope to negotiate times and opportunities for occasional remote work. Scope for additional hours following probation.Professional development focus: Access training and practice knowledge, peer-learning sessions. During induction, we''ll co-create a personalised self-care and wellbeing plan.Role variety: Blend casework and mentoring tasksmentoring activities provide a change of pace and help sustain your energy.Engage students in a structured TEI casework program: intake, assessment, goal-setting and progress reviewsBroker and follow up on referrals to mental-health, family-support and community servicesSupport young people''s transition into the mentoring programPartner with the Youth Mentoring Officer to identify young people, match mentors and students, monitor relationships and provide ongoing check-insStakeholder Engagement (15%)Cultivate partnerships: Build and sustain relationships with school wellbeing and counselling teams, DCJ, health services, cultural supports, TAFE and other key agenciesLeverage trust: Gather insights on students'' needs and engagement preferencesand share them with schools and service providers to foster holistic, collaborative supportFamily engagement: Maintain regular communication with families/carers to align supports and manage school expectationsCompliance & Reporting (10%)Uphold child safety cultural safety principals. Ensure that we are compliant with privacy, confidentiality and funding-agreement requirementsMaintain accurate case-management records and reporting systems, including data entry into DEXPrepare monthly progress reports and contribute data for VCC''s Annual ReportCulture, Teamwork & WHS (10%)Co-create and maintain a self-care and boundary-setting plan with your supervisorParticipate in regular reflective practice and peer-support sessions to share insights and sustain wellbeingEngage in team meetings, VCC events and promote safe work practicesAbout YouDiploma (or higher) in Community Services, Youth Work, Social Services or related fieldMinimum 3 years'' experience in case management or youth supportDemonstrated experienceor strong willingness to learnin volunteer coordination and mentoringDeep understanding of child-safe standards, mandatory reporting and adolescent developmentExcellent communication, planning and data-management skillsHigh resilience, sound judgment and a collaborative mindsetProven ability to set and maintain professional boundaries to safeguard both client and personal wellbeingDesirable: Experience in trauma-informed practiceRequirmentsWorking with Children Check (current or ability to obtain before starting)Valid NSW driver''s licence and access to reliable vehicleAbility to obtain National Police Check clearanceAustralian citizenship, permanent residency or valid work visa requiredHow to ApplyApply through Seek or send a brief cover letter (outlining how you''ll balance frontline practice with self-care) and your CV to admin@vcc.org.au with the subject line "Youth Caseworker & Mentor Support " by Friday 5 July, 5 pm.
