Front of House Attendant - Retail and AdminCairns Art Gallery, located in Cairns Queensland, hosts local, touring and international exhibitions in a heritage building with over 150,000 visitors every year.The PositionReporting to the Gallery Manager, the Front of House Attendant supports the visitor experience and retail activities, both online and in-store of Cairns Art Gallery.The position requires a self-motivated, all-rounder who has the flexibility to work comfortably in the retail space and the ability to perform basic admin as well as assisting with setting up for art-classes and events on a rotating basis.The DutiesAcross the week, the role will see you acting as the initial point of contact for Gallery visitors and includes tasks such as: Processing retail sales Providing excellent customer service Basic data entry Answering phone calls and emails Handling payments and processing bookings for paid events Cash handling Growing the Gallery Membership base Capturing visitor data and feedback Assisting visitors with purchase enquiries and providing relevant information to support their visit Promoting current and upcoming exhibitions and events.Additionally, the weekend Duty Officer role includes: Taking responsibility for the Gallery building and visitor experience Opening the Gallery and securing the building at the end of the day Supervising junior staff Creating and receiving stock orders Setting up for art classes and eventsAvailability RequirementsCairns Art Gallery is a 7-day a week business and there will be a requirement to work some evenings and weekends on a rotating roster.HoursThe position is casual.At this time, 20 to 25 hours per week is being offered, with the opportunity to convert to permanent part-time for the right candidate.A roster is generally provided 4-weeks in advance, with a focus on flexibility and consideration to preferred hours.Pay ratesHourly pay rates are in line with the relevant award, with penalty rates paid on Sunday and Public Holidays. The rate shown is the base rate.Qualifications, Skills and Experience Proven Customer Service skills Strong organisational skills Attention to detail for accurate data entry and inventory management Experience working with and supervising junior staff Experience in Point of Sale or inventory management system, including accurately managing product data and physical inventory. Demonstrated experience with stock control and cash handling procedures. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office such as Excel, Word and Outlook. Excellent interpersonal skills with high level verbal and written communication. An ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Ability to work unsupervised. The role does involve some lifting, such as boxes of stock, some physical fitness is needed.Our Ideal Candidate: Courteous and friendly with excellent communication skills.
