We are passionate about inclusive design, meaningful community connection, and delivering housing that truly supports individual goals and wellbeing.About the RoleThe Property Officer plays a dual role in supporting the successful operation of our Northern Territory SDA property portfolio while also engaging directly with participants and their support networks. This position is critical in ensuring properties are well-maintained, compliant, and aligned with the needs of the people who live in them.Youll serve as both the welcoming face for prospective tenants and the go-to person for property oversightensuring smooth onboarding, positive housing experiences, and strong relationships with Supported Independent Living (SIL) providers and community stakeholders. Please note: This role requires regular travel across Darwin, surrounding regions and the Northern Territory to conduct property inspections, meet with tenants and SIL providers, and attend local events.Key ResponsibilitiesParticipant EngagementBuild and maintain genuine, trust-based relationships with participant stakeholdersCoordinate property viewings, assist with onboarding processes, and manage tenancy documentation.Represent Brighter Living at community expos, events, and industry forums.Advocate for participant needs through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.Property Oversight & Tenancy SupportOversee day-to-day property management of the Northern Territory SDA portfolio to ensure high standards of presentation, safety, and functionality.Maintain accurate records, including compliance documentation, maintenance schedules, and tenancy agreements.Support new property handovers and ensure compliance with SDA design and operational standards.Conduct regular property inspections and audits.Travel to SDA properties regularly to coordinate maintenance, repairs, and contractor access, including urgent and preventative works.Stakeholder CollaborationFoster strong, cooperative relationships with SIL providers and service partners.Work with SILs to identify and resolve tenant or property-related issues.Ensure open, timely, and effective communication with all stakeholders.Compliance and ReportingEnsure properties comply with SDA and NDIS standards, including safety and accessibility.Prepare regular reports on occupancy, participant engagement outcomes, maintenance status, and compliance matters.Key Selection CriteriaQualifications & ExperienceExperience in property management, disability services, housing support, or real estate preferred.Understanding of SDA, NDIS, and tenant rights.Experience working with or alongside SIL providers and support networks.Familiarity with property compliance, accessible housing, and service coordination.Skills & AttributesExcellent communication and interpersonal skills with a participant-centred mindset.Strong organisation and time-management skills across competing priorities.Problem-solving ability and a hands-on approach to operations and service delivery.Proficient in Microsoft Office, CRM/property management systems.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across teams.Conditions of EmploymentPart-time position based in Darwin, NT, with flexible remote and site-based work.Required (can be obtained once successful):NDIS Worker Screening CheckWorking with Children CheckOccasional travel to sites and events within the region.Join UsIf youre passionate about empowering people with disabilities and have the practical skills to support quality housing and engagement, wed love to hear from you.
