The office of Senator Richard Dowling is seeking applications for a full-time or multiple part time ongoing Electorate Officer/Constituent Manager role, based in the Senators Electorate Office in Hobart, Tasmania.Commencement dates are negotiable, however with an approximate start date of late July to early August 2025.Position OverviewSenator Dowling is seeking a self-motivated, community-minded person who possesses excellent interpersonal skills to join the team as an Electorate Officer/Constituent Manager, with the responsibility of leading provision of advice in relation to constituent issues.The Electorate Officer/Constituent Manager position is critical to the effective operation of Senator Dowlings electorate office in Hobart. The role will engage with constituents and community groups from all backgrounds, and where necessary liaise with government agencies and ministerial offices to resolve constituent matters in a timely manner, including preparing professional written responses. The role will encompass both office-based work, as well travel within the electorate to meet constituents and represent the Senator in constituent and community group meetings.The role will work closely with Senator Dowling and all members of his team, and support collaboration with other parliamentary offices.The values of Accountability, Integrity, Respect and Service are fundamental to all roles within the Senators Office.We are an equal opportunity employer. Even if you feel you do not possess all the required skills or experience for the role/s youre interested in, wed encourage you to apply and provide us with information on your other relevant or aligned skills.The key duties of the position include but are not limited to:Manage the receipt and recording of constituent enquiries (in-person, phone and email).Act as the offices primary staff member responsible for the preparation of responses and advocacy on behalf of constituents. In doing so, research solutions and liaise with Government agencies (such as Centrelink, immigration and the NDIS,) and stakeholders as needed, to ensure matters are resolved in an effective manner and accordance with set office timeframes.Keep the office informed of issues emerging from constituent enquiries, correspondence, community newsletters etc.Researching and writing material on behalf of the Senator.Representing the Senator in constituent and community group meetings.Occasionally providing phone and office reception services to constituents and visitors to the office.Other duties as directed.The ideal applicant should possess the following skills, qualifications, and experience:Exceptional ability to engage and communicate with emotional intelligence with a broad range of people, including constituents who may be experiencing distress.High level of oral and written communication skills with a customer service focus with a pleasant, positive, and respectful demeanour.High levels of professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion while operating under limited supervision in a team environment.Demonstrated knowledge of Federal and State political systems, processes and issues.Sound analytical and diagnostic skills with a proven ability to quickly identify the nature of a problem and start to workshop solutions.Previous experience working for a Parliamentarian, responding to constituents or in a similar administrative role will be viewed favourably.Intermediate computer skills across MS Office 365 and capacity to learn IT systems used by the Federal Government.Employment conditions:The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2024-27 which include:A commencing salary between $71,808 and $76,022 will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills.An additional optional allowance of up to $29,082 may be considered in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work and any travel requirements.Relocation assistance, studies assistance and paid study leave may also be available (subject to eligibility requirements).An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable.Applicants should note the following:An initial probationary period of three months may apply and may be subject to extension.The successful applicant may be required to undergo a National Police History Check.Staff may be subject to automatic cessation triggers in accordance with Section 14 of the MOP(S) Act.The successful applicant will be required to comply with their obligations under the Behaviour Codes and Standards.For staff employed by a Minister or Parliamentary Secretary either in a personal or electorate staff position, it is a condition of your employment that you obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 2 security clearance and comply with the Ministerial Staff Code of Conduct.How to applySubmit a CV with the names of two referees and a cover letter outlining your interest in this position, and demonstrating your skills, capabilities, knowledge and experience.Applications close on 2 July 2025Contact Officer : Applicants are encouraged to discuss their interest by contacting Senator Dowling at: Richard.Dowling@taslabor.org.au #J-18808-Ljbffr
