Our mission is to help shape the world through research, innovation, and engagement, creating transformative experiences for students that prepare them for life and work.About the RoleRMIT Council is the governing body of the University, providing strategic leadership and oversight of its operations, financial stewardship, and academic mission.Council members play a critical role in shaping RMITs long-term strategy, guiding innovation, risk management, and major investments, and ensuring the Universitys continued success as a globally engaged institution.This is an outstanding opportunity for experienced Non-Executive Directors, ideally with sector specific experience, to apply their expertise in a leading, industry connected, applied learning University.As a Council Member, you will:Contribute to the strategic direction, sustainability, and future positioning of the University.Appoint and oversee the performance of the Vice-Chancellor.Approve the Universitys budget, strategic plan, and significant commercial activities.Oversee financial and risk management, control, and accountability systems.Engage with complex and future-facing challenges, including digital innovation, education transformation, research commercialisation, and global partnerships.Work collegially with an outstanding Council comprising leaders from business, government, and academia.Meetings are held primarily at RMITs Melbourne City campus, with six meetings per year (including two full strategy days).About YouWe are ideally seeking interest from candidates who live and work in Victoria. To be successful, you will bring:Non-Executive Director or senior executive experience in a complex, medium-to-large organisation.
