Frankston Packaging, a leader in paperboard folding carton manufacturing located in Frankston, TX, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Plant Superintendent to lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of our manufacturing facility. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this leadership role will drive operational excellence by guiding teams in converting, printing, finishing, logistics, prepress, and maintenance while maintaining the highest standards of safety, product quality, and cultural engagement.Key Responsibilities1. Safety, Health & Environmental LeadershipFoster a proactive culture of safety that aligns with company values.Ensure compliance with all regulatory safety and environmental standards.Lead ongoing improvements in team member health and environmental practices.2. Team Leadership & Cultural DevelopmentLead by example with honest and transparent communication.Inspire a high-performing, collaborative team across Scheduling, Production, Maintenance, Shipping, and Warehouse functions.Model and promote Frankston Packagings values: performance excellence, integrity, and a people-first culture.Promote an environment of recognition, accountability, and professional growth.3. Production & Performance ManagementWork closely with the Scheduling team to coordinate production processes and ensure timely delivery of high-quality products.Collaborate to achieve on-time-to-promise (OTTP) performance of 98% or better and on-time-in-full (OTIF) targets of 95% or better.Meet and exceed key performance indicators (KPIs) such as downtime (planned and unplanned), uptime, waste, machine speeds, make-ready time (etc.)Foster alignment through clear internal communication with all levels of staff.4. Process Improvement & OptimizationIdentify and execute data-driven improvements to maximize productivity, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.Implement systems to ensure employees understand individual, departmental, and organizational objectives.5. Supply Chain CollaborationPartner with the Supply Chain team to align raw material availability and inventory with production schedules.Actively participate in long-term and short-term demand planning.6. Operational Leadership & Cross-Functional SupportRepresent plant operations in cross-functional initiatives and corporate planning.Evaluate and recommend modernization, automation, or equipment upgrades to maximize efficiency and ROI.7. Quality ManagementCollaborate closely with the Quality team to ensure robust SOPs and quality control systems are in place to maintain high standards.Support a culture of continuous improvement through training, competency development, and regular performance testing.8. Reporting & CommunicationProvide weekly updates to executive leadership on plant performance, KPIs, challenges, and improvement initiatives.Facilitate open, consistent communication across departments and leadership levels.9. Strategic Support & People DevelopmentParticipate in annual strategic planning and goal setting.Collaborate with senior management on budget development and adherence.Mentor, coach, and evaluate managers and supervisors through structured performance reviews and development plans.10. Compliance & External EngagementEnsure adherence to ISO standards, GMP, and food safety protocols (e.g., AIB, BRC).Represent the facility during audits, plant tours, and industry engagements.Qualifications10+ years of progressive leadership experience in paperboard manufacturing, with strong expertise in offset printing, preferably with Heidelberg equipment.Demonstrated expertise with folding carton processes and equipment such as roll sheeting, die-cutting, folder-gluers, and tray formers.Proven track record managing Heidelberg or equivalent high-speed printing systems.Bachelors degree in Engineering, Business, or related field; Masters degree a plus.Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.Experience managing within ISO-certified operations and related safety/quality control systems.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.Working ConditionsManufacturing floor environment with exposure to noise, dust, and production equipment.Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 50 lbs).Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.BenefitsCompetitive salaryHealth, dental, vision, and life insurance401(k)Paid time off and company holidaysOpportunities for growth and advancement within a supportive, team-oriented cultureFrankston Packaging offers competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and a culture committed to continuous improvement.
