This includes defining and executing a vision that ensures industry-leading scale and availability, and actively balancing these concerns with efficiency, latency, and organizational health. We are committed to advancing new distributed services and scaling existing technologies across the industry, in close collaboration with various teams to support their current and future demands, and various external partners in the open source community.Our infrastructure supports businesses worldwide by processing payments, managing marketplaces, assisting entrepreneurs in launching internet businesses, and more. The Infra organization comprises teams responsible for operating system components, databases, caching, high availability, disaster recovery, cloud infrastructure, Linux servers, container orchestration, mesh networking, service discovery, change management, and network edge infrastructure.What youll doAs a Staff Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a key leadership role in enabling Stripes infrastructure to power all of our products, globally and at scale. Your solutions will allow our business to scale and achieve a best in class price/performance ratio. You''ll also work with engineers across the company to build new features at large-scale, while improving internal engineering standards, tooling, and processes.ResponsibilitiesDesign, plan, build, and maintain container infrastructure used by all Stripe service teamsLead technical conversations and decision making with other infrastructure and backend teamsMentor and grow the next generation of technical leaders at StripeParticipate in roadmap planning and prioritisationDebug production issues across services and levels of the stackWork on scaling, automation, reliability and observability of infrastructure servicesIdentify the shared compute needs across Stripe, understand their specific requirements and prioritise solutionsWho you areWere looking for someone with a strong background in networking cloud infrastructure who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent field12+ years of professional experience in a software developmentExperience leading projects on a cross-team or company-wide scaleA strong engineering background in distributed infrastructure servicesExperience optimising the reliability and security of distributed systemsExperience with scaling and migrating systems with little to no downtimeExperience mentoring engineers at various stages in their careersExperience using one of the major cloud providers - AWS/Azure/OCI/GoogleExperience developing, maintaining and debugging distributed systemsExperience with ops culture and a deep understanding of metrics, alarms, and dashboardsPreferred qualificationsExperience in a development team in AWS/Azure/OCI/Google3+ years experience with GoExperience with AWS network components (VPC, security groups, DNS Route 53, NLB, gateways, etc.)Experience with TerraformOffice-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.The annual salary range for this role in the primary location is A$207,200 - A$310,800. This range may change if you are hired in another location. For sales roles, the range provided is the roles On Target Earnings (OTE) range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidates experience, qualifications, and specific location.
