Pormpuraaw Aboriginal Shire Council is seeking a Grants and Contracts Officer to be based in the Cairns office. The purpose of the position is to work collaboratively with the Chief Executive Officer to deliver strategic outcomes through optimal grant funding and legislative compliance in contract development. This role is vital in supporting the development and sustainability of local communities through effective grant and contract management. It ensures that public funds and resources are allocated efficiently, equitably, and transparently, contributing to the strategic goals of the local government. Key Responsibilities: Identify and research potential grant and economic development opportunities from various funding sources to support the Council''s strategic objectives. Prepare and submit high-quality grant applications, proposals, and reports, ensuring compliance with all processes. Develop a grants and contracts register and filing system to monitor the progress of awarded grants and contracts, ensuring compliance with funding requirements, deliverables, timelines, reporting, and record keeping. Identify, develop, review contracts, and tendering processes, including the administration of VendorPanel, to ensure value for money and compliance with legislation. Build and maintain strong relationships with funding bodies, community groups, and stakeholders. Represent Pormpuraaw Aboriginal Shire Council at meetings, workshops, and events related to grant funding and contracts, as required and supported by the CEO. Skills and Experience: A qualification in public administration, economic/community development, business management, finance, or a related field. Experience in writing grant applications, managing grants/contracts compliance, and report writing, especially in a Local Government environment. Advanced verbal and written communication skills. C Class driver''s license. A clear national criminal history check is required. This is a 12-month contract position working from the Cairns office, with some travel to the community involved.
