This role is ideal for a senior and experienced oncology nurse who thrives in complex and semi-autonomous clinical environments, is experienced in being part of an oncology multidisciplinary team, excels in communication, and is passionate about delivering exceptional, patient-centred cancer care. As the CNC, you will be the central point of contact for patients navigating their ocular oncology journey, ensuring seamless coordination across internal teams and external providers. You will play a pivotal role in clinical leadership, service development, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Key Responsibilities Patient-Centred Care & Coordination Lead the coordination of care for patients with complex ocular cancers, ensuring continuity across the treatment pathway. Serve as a consistent point of contact for patients and families, providing education, emotional support, and advocacy. Develop and implement supportive care and survivorship frameworks tailored to individual patient needs. Multidisciplinary Collaboration Work closely with ophthalmologists, oncologists, nurses, MDM coordinators, surgical liaison staff, and allied health professionals. Liaise with external hospitals, pathology, and radiology services to ensure timely and integrated care delivery. Actively contribute to multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and case discussions. Clinical Leadership & Education Provide expert clinical advice and mentorship to nursing and allied health staff. Collaborate with the nursing education team to deliver ocular oncology education and training. Drive quality improvement initiatives and contribute to research and service development. Documentation & Governance Ensure accurate clinical documentation and compliance with hospital policies and procedures. Monitor and evaluate service delivery outcomes to support continuous improvement. Qualifications and Experience Essential Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse. Minimum 5 years experience in oncology nursing, with demonstrated expertise in managing complex cancer care. Proven ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams. Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and multitask in a high-acuity setting. Desirable Postgraduate qualifications in oncology, nursing leadership, or a related field. Membership with relevant professional bodies (e.g., CNSA, AONA).
