The centre, co-led by WEHI and the Royal Melbourne Hospital, will bring together leading Australian and international researchers with a shared mission to transform how we research and treat the immune system. Our goal is to accelerate discoveries into the underlying features and markers of immune health, to identify disease causes early and target appropriate treatment. The centre has been established in partnership with the Snow Medical Research Foundation.We are now seeking an innovative and experienced immunologist to help design and apply new methods for testing receptor sensing differences between individuals. The successful applicant will be expert in T and/or B cell activation, signal transduction and regulation and will lead experimental projects and oversee analysis of results. The work will build on current projects and explore cellular and molecular variation in processes regulating lymphocyte proliferation and differentiation. The work will also include measurement and prediction of drug synergies and treatments. The role will collaborate closely with our computational and bioinformatics team. The successful applicant will be an integral part of a research team working at WEHI and the Royal Melbourne Hospital joining multiple stakeholders committed to transforming how we measure and understand immune health.Selection CriteriaEssential Knowledge And SkillsA PhD in an experimental immunologyAn excellent academic record and achievementsDemonstrated ability and potential for excellence and productivity in researchExcellent attention to detail, ensuring that data, methods and theories are accurate, of high-quality and accessible to other researchersExperience in primary cell tissue culture and experimental set-up. Knowledge of cell biology and/or immunologyDesirable Knowledge And SkillsExperience in studying cell signallingKnowledge of basic pharmacologyPersonal QualitiesExcellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate with people across disciplinesExcellent attention to detail, ensuring that data, methods and theories are accurate, of high-quality and accessible to other researchersSelf-motivated and opportunisticExcellent time managementTerms of appointmentThis position is for two years in a full-time capacity. Salary is Research Employee Level B depending on experience ($117,596-$139,636).
