Legislative drafting is a specialist type of legal work that is intellectually challenging and requires the ability to understand complex ideas and policies and express them in legislation that is legally effective and drafted as clearly and simply as possible. The roles offer challenging and fulfilling work at the heart of government, providing legislative drafting services and related advice in relation to some of the most significant policy issues in Western Australia.PCO is seeking to fill vacancies ranging from junior-level positions, for which prior legislative drafting experience is not essential, to mid-level positions that require some legislative drafting experience or considerable professional experience as a legal practitioner in a relevant field.About The Parliamentary Counsels OfficePCO has a staff of over 40, consisting of legislative drafters, editors and publications and support staff and IT staff. PCO provides comprehensive legislative drafting and related services to the State Government, its departments and agencies.
