Transitional Centre Worker - Aboriginal IdentifiedJoin to apply for the Transitional Centre Worker - Aboriginal Identified role at NSW Department of Communities and JusticeTransitional Centre Worker - Aboriginal Identified2 weeks ago Be among the first 25 applicantsJoin to apply for the Transitional Centre Worker - Aboriginal Identified role at NSW Department of Communities and JusticeGet AI-powered advice on this job and more exclusive features.Employment type Ongoing Full timeSalary $82,193 107,059 pa plus superannuation and leave loadingThis position is open to Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people onlyYour roleYou will provide support and assistance to female residents of the Transitional Centre including the provision of clear and accessible channels of communication, counselling, negotiation and assessment services on a range of family, social and legal issues to contribute to the transition from correctional to post-release livingTransitional Centre WorkerCorrective Services NSWLocation ParramattaEmployment type Ongoing Full timeSalary $82,193 107,059 pa plus superannuation and leave loadingThis position is open to Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people onlyYour roleYou will provide support and assistance to female residents of the Transitional Centre including the provision of clear and accessible channels of communication, counselling, negotiation and assessment services on a range of family, social and legal issues to contribute to the transition from correctional to post-release livingWhat Youll DoAs part of this role, the successful applicants must be willing to deliver a high level of support and assistance to female residents within the centres including by providing clear and accessible channels of communication, counselling, negotiation and assessment services on a range of family, social and legal issues to contribute to the transition from correctional to post-release living.Within this role you will be escorting residents to necessary appointments, job interviews, assisting residents find employment, supporting residents in re-developing social and housekeeping skills, maintain strict confidentiality in record keeping relating to admission and discharge of residents, develop professional relationship with the residents and promote an environment of mutual trust, empathy and understanding, assist with the development of case plans and engage with community Stakeholders.What Were Looking ForMaintain strict confidentiality in keeping appropriate records relating to admission and discharge of residents.Assist the residents in re-developing social and house-keeping skills enabling them to re-establish relationships in preparation for reintegrating back in the community.Provide information, support and intervention in crises situations whilst maintaining links with appropriate external welfare, support and counselling agencies for provision of appropriate support to residents.Assist in promoting the role and principles of the Transitional Centre amongst the local community and community-based organisations for increasing their understanding and for registering their ongoing support.Essential RequirementsCurrent First Aid Certificate or the willingness to obtain one prior to the commencement of employment.A Working with Children Check if and where required.Successful completion of the Security Awareness and Management of Female offenders training course.Current drivers licence and preparedness to drive a vehicle in the course of performing the role.Formal post-secondary educational qualifications and experience in welfare related work or social science environment, or significant experience gained by working in that area is highly desirableAboriginalityPreparedness to undertake shift work in a rotating roster, as required.7 Day rotating roster, 4 x shifts6:15am 2:30pm2:15pm 10:30pm10:15pm 6:30am11:30am 7:30pmAs an Identified role, this position is open only to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander personsWhere a position is identified, an applicants race is a genuine occupational qualification under the exception in Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.RoleThere are two alternatives to confirming your Aboriginality, one of which must be uploaded to be considered for the role as follows.
