The Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) is seeking highly skilled and dynamic leaders for the SES Band 1 Executive Director, Audit Services vacancies in the Financial Statements Audit Services Group, Performance Statements Audit Services Group, and the Systems Assurance and Data Analytics Group. These senior leadership positions play a crucial role in delivering independent reporting to the Australian Parliament and promoting accountability and transparency within the Australian Government sector.As an Executive Director, you will be responsible for leading one of the three functional groups within the ANAO:Financial Statements Audit Services Group:Provides independent assurance on financial statements and financial administration for Australian Government entities and conducts assurance reviews.Performance Statements Audit Services Group:Conducts audits of Australian Government entities performance statements and measures.Systems Assurance and Data Analytics Group:Provides IT audit and data analytics support to ANAOs assurance, performance, and performance statements audit work.These roles are vital in delivering the ANAOs strategic objectives, ensuring the effective and efficient operation of each group, and maintaining high standards of audit quality.As Executive Director, you will provide leadership and direction across your branch, manage resources, provide strategic direction, and foster a collaborative culture across the broader ANAO. You will engage with senior government officials, stakeholders, and Parliament to deliver on the ANAOs mission.The key duties of the position include:Key Responsibilities:Leading, directing and being accountable for the planning, execution, reporting and delivery pf high-quality audit reports/opinions/products in accordance with ANAO auditing standards and policies and working closely with other senior executives to ensure alignment with the ANAOs overall goals and vision.Cultivate and maintain key relationships with senior government officials, stakeholders, and Parliament to support the ANAOs work and enhance its public sector impact. Representing ANAO to Parliament, audit agencies, and the public as required.Fostering a culture of continuous improvement within service group operations to respond to emerging challenges in public sector performance and accountability.Effectively manage business risks related to your areas of responsibility and branch operations.Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, ensuring the groups success and capability to meet the ANAOs objectives.Who we are looking for:The ideal candidates will perform at the SES Band 1 leadership level and demonstrate theAPS-wide DRIVE Leadership behaviours.We are seeking leaders with the ability to see the big picture and drive transformational change that aligns with the ANAOs goals. Additionally, the candidate must be resilient, capable of leading through adversity and navigating complex challenges with a calm, solutions-oriented mindset.To be successful in these roles, you will demonstrate:A proven ability to lead and motivate teams, with a strong record of leading and managing audit operations in a professional environment.Experience providing high-level strategic advice to senior executives and managing complex stakeholder relationships.A track record in client and project management, with experience in leading end-to-end audit operations.The ability to articulate issues to key stakeholders and influence outcomes through effective communication.Demonstrated integrity, sound judgment, and the ability to work under pressure while delivering projects on time and within budget.A commitment to empowering and developing staff to drive the ANAOs purpose and vision.Integrity and Work Health and SafetyAll APS employees are required to comply with the APS Code of Conduct, including to at all times behave in a way that upholds the APS Values and Employment Principles, and the integrity and good reputation of their agency and the APS. It is ANAOs expectation that all SES Leaders act in a way that is consistent with the obligations of an Officer under the WHS Act.Desirable qualificationsThere are no mandatory qualifications for this role, however, the following are highly desirable:Relevant tertiary qualifications in commerce, accounting, economics, law, public policy, IT, or a related discipline.Membership of relevant professional bodies or associations.Relevant experience in senior operational management, ideally within the public sector.EligibilityCitizenship To be eligible for employment with the ANAO, applicants must be an Australian citizen.Security Clearance The Australian community requires the highest level of integrity from ANAO employees.
