The position is responsible for providing information and specialist advice to the organisation on procurement and contracts, overseeing tendering and contract compliance, reporting organisational activity and driving best value outcomes from procurement.More specifically, your duties will include (but will not be limited to):Provide strategic direction and advice to Senior Management and Council in relation to procurement and drive continuous procurement reform and efficiencies.To employ efficient and effective work processes and seek to continually improve work performance, methods and outcomes.To manage and co-ordinate tendering processes in accordance with all relevant legislation and Council policies and procedures.Promote best practice procurement throughout the organisation and ensure continued compliance to such practices.Manage and develop organisational skills and capacity in best value procurement to ensure that relevant staff are sufficiently skilled and knowledgeable in sound procurement practices.Provide direction, support, advice and training to Council''s management and staff in all aspects of tendering and contract procedures.Lead the development and implementation of business improvement initiatives which will either generate additional revenue or reduce long-term costs.Develop and review policies and procedures in relation to procurement and tendering to ensure that Council complies with regulatory requirements and best practice.For more detail about the specific duties and responsibilities of the position, please CLICK HERE for the complete Position Description.About YouThe successful candidate will meet the following criteria:Tertiary qualifications in the following or a related discipline: Business Management/Accounting or Commerce, Contract Management, Business Law, Project Management, ProcurementClass C Drivers LicenceSatisfactory Criminal Record checkMembership of CIPSA or similar recognised professional procurement qualificationDemonstrated experience in developing, implementing and maintaining effective procurement policies and systems, in a complex organisation, to improve efficiency and value for moneyExtensive knowledge and experience in procurement, contract administration and management, public tendering and the principles of contract lawExtensive knowledge of the processes for the development of specifications, tendering and contract documentation for services, products and worksAbility to interpret and give advice on relevant legislation with demonstrated negotiation skillsDemonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive issues and liaise effectively with internal and external customer and stakeholdersDemonstrated well-developed written and oral communication skillsDemonstrated commitment to the principals of honesty and integrityDemonstrated commitment to and understanding of Work Health and SafetyIn addition, an ideal candidate would have experience and an understanding of continuous learning principles, equal employment opportunities, work health and safety, and ethical practice principles, relevant local government experience and a tertiary qualifications in Work, Health and Safety.Salary and BenefitsIf you are looking for a change of lifestyle, a new adventure, or to take the next step in your career, this is the role for you.Between $1,713.44 and $1,904.19 per week, commensurate with your skills, qualifications and experience.Permanent, Full-time, 35 hours per week,Ongoing learning and development opportunitiesWork/Life balance with a rostered day off every fortnightAPPLICATIONS CLOSE ON Wednesday 9 July 2025 at 4.00pm AEST.Please note: To be considered for this position, candidates must address all selection criteria.
