With management responsibility spanning across five states, our 8,500km rail network is used to transport bulk products, passenger and general freight, including steel and a vast array of consumer items such as groceries, electrical goods and other items for both import and export markets.The Operations teams work within several complex and challenging environments, including some of the busiest rail corridors in Australia to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable service delivery outcomes for its customers, stakeholders and the community.About the OpportunityTo meet customer needs by delivering an annual works plan that ensures the region is effectively and efficiently managed in a safe manner.To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate:Delivery of annual maintenance and work plans within budget and timeframeProvide a safe and reliable rail infrastructureEffectively manage work programs to minimise disruption to operationsAction risk mitigation programs and processesLead, direct, coach and performance manage employees to facilitate achievement of business objectives and develop the competencies and skills of employeesParticipate in reviewing budget, work and asset condition outcomes arising from the annual work and capital improvement plansPromote and encourage positive culture change within the teamPromptly attend to emergencies and irregularities and ensure that equipment is promptly and safely returned to serviceDrive continuous improvement in the maintenance practicesWhat do we want from you?Tertiary qualifications in engineering, management or an appropriate discipline and / or relevant industry experienceProven management experience of a small to medium team, at a senior levelPreferably gained in a heavy industry or similar environmentKnowledge of contemporary management techniques, with the ability to leadExtensive experience in a railway and/or asset management environment desirableHighly developed negotiation, influencing, analytical, problem resolution, interpersonal and communication skillsDemonstrated cost, budget and project management experienceExperience in the management of safetyExperience in contract administrationDrivers licence - C ClassWhat will you get from us?Talk to us about flexible working optionsCompetitive remunerationResources to support your health and wellbeing and developmentNovated leasing options, as well as discounts and support programs24/7 Employee Assistance Program for all employees and their direct family membersOur Organisation and CultureAt ARTC, we''re more than just a rail network.
