This role focuses on improving diabetes health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Victorians through meaningful engagement, cultural advocacy, health promotion, and community education.Play a key role in delivering culturally relevant diabetes programs (including Feltman and Diabetes Yarning), strengthening relationships with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs), and ensuring all resources and services reflect cultural safety, access and equity principles join us today, make a difference to our First Nations peoples!KEY RESPONSIBILITIESBuild and maintain trusted relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and key stakeholders, including VACCHO and ACCHOs.Provide cultural advice to ensure programs and materials are appropriate and respectful.Deliver community awareness and education programs focused on diabetes prevention, management, and support.Represent Diabetes Victoria on the NDSS Aboriginal Working Group.Support communication activities, including contributions to the Wominjeka newsletter.Complete administrative tasks, reporting, and database management.SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEA qualification in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care, or a health or welfare-related discipline.Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and health workforces.Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong, respectful partnerships with key stakeholders.An understanding of health promotion and health literacy principles.A current drivers licence and willingness to travel across Victoria.Please note: This role involves providing programs and services to Aboriginal individuals to promote their welfare. This role is only available to people who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and meet the selection criteria.
