Located in the Integrity, Regulation and Legal Services (IRLS) group, TLV has been established to deliver the Government''s commitment to implement a tobacco regulation and licensing scheme.Following the passage of the Tobacco Amendment (Tobacco Retailer and Wholesaler Licensing Scheme) Act (Act) in November 2024, Victoria is implementing a tobacco business licensing scheme and regulator to strengthen tobacco regulation. From 1 July 2025, tobacco retailers and wholesalers will be able to apply for a license to sell tobacco products, improving oversight and compliance. Additional functions under the Act, including enforcement and broader regulatory powers, will come into effect in February 2026.About The RoleReporting to the Manager, Compliance and Enforcement, the Safety Manager will oversee critical functions including:Designing, implementing, overseeing and continuously improving TLV''s safety framework.Embedding safety into daily operations, ensuring compliance with legislative obligations, and driving the continuous improvement of all operational safety activities.Providing guidance and advice in partnership with the executive, senior leaders, staff and Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) to improve safety performanceThis role operates within a matrix structure, involving both direct and functional (dotted line) reporting relationships to Safety, Wellbeing and Compliance.Core to being successful in this role will be your capacity to understand new subject matter quickly, demonstrate appropriate initiative, and an ability to write accurate, timely and audience-appropriate documents and briefings.As the Safety Manager some of your duties will include:Develop required documentation including procedures, risk assessments, risk registers.Lead and upskill teams to produce high quality timely Incident Investigations by identifying root causes, and robust controls.Develop practical tools and resources for supervisors and workers to support safe work practices.Monitor and report on safety metrics, including hazards, incidents, inspections and actions.To learn more about this role before applying, please read the attached position description.About YouTo be successful in this role, you will have:Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge, understanding and experience in the application of OHS legislation, compliance codes, codes of practice and regulations and the Dangerous Goods and Hazardous Substances legislation and regulations.Relevant significant industry experience in occupational health and safety management systems.Demonstrated experience in the identification of OHS risks and developing, implementing and evaluating preventative strategies.Demonstrated expertise in consulting with senior leaders and managers in the delivery of key outcomes in health and safety, change management and related workplace improvement initiatives.Demonstrated experience in delivering cultural change in health, safety and wellbeing.QualificationsDiploma (or equivalent) in occupational/workplace health and safety.A full and current driver''s license is required due to the need to work across different locations.How To ApplyPlease click the Apply button on this advertisement.
