The Therapeutic Counsellor will be responsible for delivering therapeutic counselling support to individuals affected by problem gambling and their families in order to assist in reducing the negative effects of problem gambling. All counselling programs are underpinned by psychodynamic, trauma informed, holistic principles.The Therapeutic Counsellor will provide information on vocational, relationship, social and educational difficulties and issues, and work with people to help them to identify and define their emotional issues through therapies such as cognitive behaviour therapy, interpersonal therapy and other talking therapies.SSI works within a trauma informed context to provide aculturally informed therapeutic service. The Therapeutic Counsellor will operate within an evidence-based practice frameworkfor the effectiveness of various therapeutic approaches. The Therapeutic Counsellor is bound by a code of ethics, good practice and confidentiality and is required to attend an ongoing program of continual professional development. Contribute to the development of coordinated approaches to service delivery across key stakeholder groups. In addition to face-to-face counselling, this position will raise community awareness of problem gambling issues to the multicultural communities utilizing appropriate strategies.If you''re passionate about supporting recovery and reducing gambling harm, we''d love to hear from you.Please reach out to us for thefull Position Descriptionto review the Key Responsibilities and Measures of success.Requirements for SuccessRelevant tertiary qualification and/or equivalent in social work, counselling or psychologyExperience and training in addiction and/or gambling counsellingDemonstrated highly developed communication skills in written and oral situations, with supportive & positive attitude toward all persons for whom there is responsibility, accountability or careExperience in facilitating evidence-based therapeutic practices and study in a counselling environment.Experience in tracking and monitoring client change/progress or therapy impactExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.Computer Literacy consistent with the expectations for a Therapeutic CounsellorExcellent time management, multi-tasking and follow-up skillsAbility to travel between sites and working locationsAbout UsSettlement Services International (SSI Group) is a community-based organisation and social business that supports newcomers and Australians to achieve their full potential.
