The Transit Market Sector at HDR encompasses a wide range of project types, including LRT, BRT, subway, metro, and heavy rail. We collaborate with clients throughout the project lifecycle, from planning and preliminary design to construction oversight and program management. We are seeking a Transit Facilities Design Manager to lead transit facility projects, requiring experience in transportation or industrial projects and managing multidisciplinary design teams. Responsibilities include project management and design oversight of transit facilities such as vehicle and maintenance facilities, transit stations, bus terminals, and interchanges. Projects range from master plans and feasibility studies to detailed design and construction administration. The role involves leading pursuits and proposal preparations, with a strong foundation in the transit industry, client programs, and project management. Responsibilities Manage concept and design of vehicle and transit maintenance facilities for various project sizes. Coordinate professional staff work and oversee project development. Manage maintenance facility design staff and resources, review all project phases, and lead cross-functional teams across time zones. Participate in client meetings and design development sessions. Coordinate workload, monitor project schedules, and manage budgets. Serve as primary manager of production teams when needed. Handle facility programming, report writing, site planning, and develop specifications. Coordinate design aspects, vendor relations, and review submittals and RFIs. Conduct construction observations and other engineering tasks as assigned. Qualifications Academic / Experience: Bachelors Degree in Architecture, Construction Management, or Engineering (Masters preferred). At least 12 years of experience in project management within design or engineering fields. Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD. Preferred Skills: Strong public speaking and presentation skills. Leadership and mentoring abilities. Client relationship management skills.
