This key leadership position is responsible for ensuring the safe delivery and operation of renewable generation and storage facilities and driving a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement. Your work will play a pivotal role in enabling SEC to meet its sustainability objectives and regulatory obligations while ensuring the psychological and physical safety of its workforce.Role reports to the General Manager, People and Culture and can be based in either our Melbourne CBD office or our regional office located in Morwell.What you will do:Develop and implement safety and wellbeing strategies, policies and annual plans.Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of safety systems, practices, and standards across SEC operations.Provide expert advice to senior leaders on safety strategy, compliance, and risk.Establish and coordinate the SEC Safety Committee and drive improvements through audits, reviews, and safety performance indicators.Identify and manage psychosocial risks and lead wellbeing initiatives to support a psychologically safe workplace.Who you are:Must Have:Your capabilities and areas of expertise that matter most for this role are:A seasoned safety leader with 10+ years of experience in safety and wellbeing management and a strong understanding of relevant legislation, compliance, and risk.Skilled communicator with strong interpersonal and negotiation skills and a record of providing strategic safety advice at executive and board levels.Ability to undertake investigative research to obtain, clarify and validate information which may require explanation and interpretation.Proven ability to build a strong safety culture, coach leaders and influence outcomes across a complex, regulated environment.Experienced in managing psychosocial risks and implementing impactful wellbeing initiatives.Experience interacting with and presenting to a Board of Directors and ensuring risk and audit committee reporting obligations are met.Highly Desirable:Significant senior management level experience in safety or a related discipline in the renewable energy industry, or a similarly complex heavy industrial and highly regulated environment.Tertiary education in a related field is desirable.Our empowered workforceA career with us means youll be joining a new and vibrant for purpose government-owned renewable energy company that:Empowers you to influence how we accelerate Victorias renewable energy transition and decarbonize our economy.Inspires you through meaningful, challenging work in an environment that encourages leadership and an entrepreneurial spirit.Supports your growth through career advancement and professional development opportunities.Provides hybrid work arrangements, with around 3 days working in Melbourne or Morwell, with flexible work options to meet individual circumstances, providing greater choice and autonomy.About usWe have an exciting and ambitious road ahead with a focus on:Investing in renewable energy and storage projects that accelerate the transition and deliver commercial returns.Supporting households to go all electric to reduce their emissions and energy bills.Building the renewable energy workforce our energy transition requires.The organisation is partnering with industry to transform the energy sector, opening the state up for further innovation and investments in renewables.
