Our business has recently revisited our values with the purpose of globalising an iconic brand.The Opportunity:The role of the Regulatory Compliance Specialist is to deliver on SPC Globals aspiration to become a global leader in FMCG, headquartered in Australia.The Regulatory Compliance Specialist will have a detailed understanding of the regulatory compliance and registration requirements for local markets, as well as export to China, Southeast Asia, UMEA, and North America. They will support the development and registration of products and processes that meet operational, export, logistical, commercial and marketing targets.The role is based in Melbourne CBD with regular travel to SPC operational sites at Shepparton, Mill Park, Carrum Downs, and Auburn, NSW. Additional travel to customers or suppliers will be required from time to time.Key activities of this role include:Ensure all food products comply with local (e.g., FSANZ in Australia), regional, and international food safety regulations and standards (e.g., Codex Alimentarius, FDA, EFSA, GACC for China), including product labelling, product testing, registrations, Halal and/or Kosher certification, and grading requirements.Assess product formulations and ingredients against regulatory requirements in destination countries (e.g., food additives, fortification, country-specific bans or limits).Ensure restricted ingredients or country-specific ingredient disclosures are correctly managed.Develop documentation / Proof of Compliance.Establishes business processes for submitting to and obtaining from the government all necessary export and import licenses, permits, certifications, and technology release determinations.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements in target export countries and track global regulatory changes and emerging standards that may impact current or future export products.Liaise with export regulatory bodies and authorities (e.g., DAFF, AQIS) to facilitate product clearance and approvals.Verify multilingual labels are accurate and legally compliant.Work with importers or distributors to ensure product entry processes are smooth and compliant.Maintain product change management to meet audit requirementsProvide formulation and claims guidance to food technologists to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.Supports law department in investigating and resolving compliance problems, questions, or complaints.As a core member of the R&D team, this role is pivotal to the achievement of NPD quality and speed of project execution which underpins the future growth of SPC. The role influences and partners collaboratively across the business and needs to manage many stakeholders internal and external.Minimal technical competencies include:Minimum 5 years regulatory compliance experience with specific knowledge of export requirements.Demonstrated technical expertise.Demonstration of ability to influence cross functionally and manage stakeholders to achieve product development outcomes. Strong working relationships with marketing & operations teams.Strong project management and change management ability.Experience working with NPD Stage & Gate processes critical.Computer literacy (MS Office (excel, word, PPT); Competence in Specification databases (eg. Agile, Hamilton-grant/Optiva or similar).Tertiary qualification & ongoing accreditations - Degree in Food Science or Technology, microbiology, or similar.Knowledge / experience in working with Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestrys Export division to ensure the establishment and export compliance of products highly regarded.Proficiency in reading and speaking Mandarin highly regardedOur Culture:Our employees come from all walks of life, across many cultures and backgrounds.
