Our programs include: SunSmart, Quit, Achievement Program, Screening, Early Detection and Immunisation (SEDI), and the Food for Health Alliance.Saving lives and equitably improving cancer outcomes through screening, early detection and immunisation is a key goal for Cancer Council Victoria, with a focus on:Develop, deliver, and evaluate initiatives to equitably eliminate cervical cancerAdvocate programs and initiatives that will address the growing burden of liver cancerDevelop, deliver, and evaluate campaigns and programs to drive participation in bowel screeningAdvocate and deliver evidence-based initiatives that increase earlier detection of cancerAbout your opportunityWe are seeking a Media and Communications Officer SEDI to join the Prevention Division. Reporting to the National Campaigns Communications Lead - SEDI your role is to:Deliver impactful communications for vital health programs: You''ll support media and communications activities for cancer screening, HPV immunisation, and liver cancer/viral hepatitis programs contributing directly to early detection and prevention efforts across Victoria.Drive stakeholder engagement and advocacy: From briefing spokespeople for media interviews to supporting advocacy priorities and growing digital audiences, this role is central to building strong relationships and amplifying Cancer Council Victorias prevention messages.Engage and support priority communities: A core focus of this role is developing targeted communications for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, LGBTIQ communities, and culturally and linguistically diverse populations, helping ensure all Victorians have access to relevant, inclusive health information.Develop strategic, multi-channel campaigns: You''ll provide expert advice on the best communication channels across digital, media, social, and health professional networks and work with internal and external stakeholders to deliver well-coordinated, high-impact campaigns.All about youWe are looking for someone with:Excellent written communication skills: You can write effectively for diverse audiences across social media, blogs, websites, and formal reports, tailoring your style to suit each channel.Strong organisational and multitasking abilities: You manage competing priorities confidently, meet deadlines, and adapt clearly to changing timelines while delivering quality work.Experience with digital tools and reporting: You are proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and have used online monitoring and reporting platforms to manage regular and ad hoc reporting requirements.Stakeholder communication and digital content knowledge: Ideally, you hold a tertiary qualification in communications or related fields, understand digital content development including CMS, and have experience coordinating communications with partners and internal teams.What we can offer youBase salary of $73,698 to $79,370 p.a.
