The office of Jess Teesdale MP is seeking applications for an ongoing, full-time, Community Engagement (Stakeholder Management) Officer (EOB) based in the Electorate Office in Launceston, TAS.Position OverviewThe Community Engagement (Stakeholder Management) Officer is responsible for strengthening the connection between the Member and the local community by building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, organisations, and constituents. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the Member is informed of local issues, community sentiment, and electorate priorities, while also helping to deliver meaningful engagement and visibility across the electorate.Working as part of a small, collaborative, and values-driven team, the role involves coordinating and supporting a range of outreach and public-facing activities, including event planning, communications, stakeholder liaison, and community consultation. The Stakeholder Management Officer will also oversee the offices management of federal government grant programs, assist in preparing briefings and speeches, and represent the Member at local events when required.This role will suit someone with excellent interpersonal skills, a proactive approach to stakeholder engagement, and a strong understanding of local community dynamics. A genuine interest in serving the community, and the work of the Member to advocate and deliver for the electorate is key to succeeding in this role.The key duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:Working closely with the Community Engagement (Constituent Management) Officer to develop and implement a community engagement plan.Facilitating community outreach, continuous campaigning and electorate visibility initiatives including responsibility for event planning, logistics and creating relevant promotional and communication materials, tailored to local community needs and preferences.Overseeing the offices activities in relation to federal grants and other funding programs, including management of the process for awarding grants given directly by the Member, supporting community organisations to access federal funding, and distributing regular grant updates to relevant organisations.Building and maintaining professional relationships with community groups, organisations, businesses and other key stakeholders to develop expertise on local issues, community sentiment and stakeholder interests across the Electorate.Contributing to material such as briefing notes, speeches, correspondence and digital communications relating to local issues, as well as maintaining a database of Electorate insights.Representing the Member at community events, meetings, functions etc. as requested.Adhere to specific office policies, procedures or administration processes.Regular travel throughout the electorate will be required as part of this role, with occasional irregular work hours and weekend work.Promote, support and maintain a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace culture.Other duties as directed by the Member of Parliament.The ideal applicant should possess the following skills, qualifications, and experience:Qualifications & experienceDemonstrated experience in stakeholder management, ideally in the community sector, including the management of community events and outreach on behalf of others.Academic qualifications in a relevant discipline such as communications, social sciences or business management are desirable but not essential.A current drivers license.Skills & capabilitiesExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively engage with a diverse range of people.Knowledge of community funding processes and/or grant management including applying for, administering and acquitting grants would be advantageous.Interest in and understanding of local community issues, the Governments agenda, and the broader national political landscape.Well-developed office IT skills, including familiarity with software such as Microsoft Office and relationship management databases.Demonstrated high-level organisation, planning and coordination skills, as well as attention to detail.Demonstrated ability to work well autonomously and in a team, showing initiative and problem-solving skills.A respectful demeanour when engaging with office staff and constituents.Employment conditions:This position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2024-27 which include:A commencing salary between $83,138 to $88,160 will be negotiated depending on the role, experience and relevant skillsAn additional optional allowance of $29,082(NM1) (dependent on skills and/or previous experience) may be considered in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work.An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable.Relocation assistance, studies assistance and paid study leave may also be available (subject to eligibility requirements).Applicants should also note:An initial probationary period of three months will apply and may be subject to extension.The successful applicant will be required to undergo a National Police History Check.Staff may be subject to automatic cessation triggers in accordance with Section 14 of the MOP(S) Act.The successful will undertake training as directed, including induction and safe and respectful workplace training.The successful will have or obtain a Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP).The successful applicant will be required to comply with their obligations under the Behaviour Codes and Standards.How to applySubmit a CV with the names of two referees and a one-page (maximum) cover letter outlining your interest in this position, and demonstrating your skills, capabilities, knowledge and experience.Submit Applications to Jess.Teesdale.mp@aph.gov.auApplications close on 6 July 2025Contact Officer Lara Von Stieglitz on 0418 595 809or Troy Robbins on 0477 724 927(NM1)Please use current rates as of today.
