These initiatives together with regular industry reports, enable Australias businesses to take advantage of the AI opportunity in a safe and responsible way.This is a great time to join the highly dynamic National AI Centre at the Department of Industry, Science and Resources.The opportunityThe National AI Centre has several EL1 Individual Contributor roles in the Responsible AI and AI Literacy team. This team focuses on developing literacy and confidence in the value of adopting AI and the promotion of AI adoption, across the Australian economy and society in a way that is safe and responsible.Areas Of Potential Focus Cover AI Literacy, And IncludeSupporting the delivery of programs that promotes AI literacy and responsible AI use in Australia.Building and strengthening partnerships with industry associations, local and international technology vendors, business networks, and training providers.Convening experts to create or curate accessible tools, templates, and resources that demystify AI concepts and support safe adoption.Coordinating case studies with Australian organisations adopting AI tools, showcasing practical examples of responsible use.Evaluating program impact and contribute to long-term strategy for responsible AI adoption and AI literacy across the Australian economy.Supporting the delivery of signature online and in-person eventsOur ideal candidateOur ideal candidates are dependable, curious, positive, flexible, effective communicators, team players, work well under pressure and like to have fun at work!We are looking for people with backgrounds in areas of program development and delivery, AI and cloud technology industry experience, stakeholder engagement, event management and procurement.Our ideal candidates will demonstrate some of the following capabilities:Experience developing and delivering industry programs and initiatives. Ideally with a strong focus on training, skilling and development.Understanding of AI or cloud technologies, options for building AI literacy across businesses, industries and communities.Proven relationship skills and the ability to build rapport with stakeholders across industry, civil society and government.Good communication skills and the ability to efficiently prepare materials for presentation to senior officials, forums and non-expert audiences.Operational excellence, with the ability to carefully manage projects according to processes, timelines and budgets.Empathy for minority and underrepresented organisations and communities.Ability to work autonomously to complete tasks.We will work with new team members to build their subject-matter expertise in the divisions focus areas and provide opportunities to develop skills in industry engagement, designing policy, and developing and implementing programs.Our department has a commitment to inclusion and diversity, with an ambition of being the best possible place to work. Our ideal candidate adds to this culture and our workplace in their own way.What You Will DoThe National AI Centre works closely with industry to land programs and initiatives which support AI adoption and innovation across Australias businesses.At the Executive Level 1, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks which could include:The development and delivery of a national AI literacy program.All aspects of AI and AI literacy program management including implementation, administration and evaluation of key programs.Liaising, collaborating and negotiating with a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and shape program success.Preparing briefing papers, Ministerial correspondence and discussion papers for senior staff and stakeholders.Creation and curation of AI success stories in collaboration with internal stakeholders.Delivery of in-person and online events including content development, stakeholder engagement and all aspects of event coordination and logistics.Best practice, safe and responsible use of AI tools and systems.EligibilityTo be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens.Positions require a Baseline security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.NotesThe department does currently offer flexible work opportunities for many roles.
