The Food Unit within the EnvironmentalHealth Directorate provide strategic policy advice to the WAMinister for Health on food standards and food regulatoryactivities to support better public health outcomes.The Food Unit has one full time (part time is an optionas Job Share) permanent position currently available.Eligibility to Apply: To be eligible forappointment, applicants must have a valid working visa (for fixedterm appointments) or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident,or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (forpermanent appointments).WA Health engages staff in positions oftrust and responsibility. Both of these options remain valid for a periodof twelve(12) months from whenthe authorised delegateendorses the recruitment decision.Position Profile: This position assists withthe development, assessment and application of food regulationpolicy and legislation. You will be operating at a high level tosupport national food regulation activities by providing technicaland policy advice on national food standards related tonutrition.We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic individual whohas demonstrated knowledge and experience in nutrition policy. Therole requires the ability to critically review the researchliterature to identify risks and concerns associated with nationalpublic health proposals. The successful applicant will haveexcellent attention to detail and be able to quickly determinecompeting public health nutrition priorities while systematicallyworking through complex proposals.
