We encourage and embrace positive change and are looking for a like-minded individual to join our high performing and dynamic team!We are seeking an Economic Development Specialist with a passion for driving enterprise and tourism growth, and partnerships with stakeholders and our existing business landscape, as we continue our rapid growth trajectory.RoleCentral to the role is the implementation of the Shire''s new 2024 to 2034 Economic Development and Tourism Strategy. This seeks to approach economic development through the following key lens:Avenue 1 Advocacy: Advancing and promoting economic development priorities to key decision-makers at all levels of government.Avenue 2 Partnering: Forging partnerships and strategic alliances with external entities to advance economic development initiatives which positively impact the Shire.Avenue 3 Facilitation: Fostering collaboration, supporting businesses, and creating an enabling environment for growth and investment.Avenue 4 Shaping: Shape the pipeline of essential public infrastructure (utilities, road, rail, digital, education and community) in a manner that reassures current and new business ventures that the Shire is growth ready.In this dynamic and exciting role, you will have the opportunity to:Implement the Shire''s new Economic Development and Tourism Strategy 2024 to 2034;Actively pursue state and federal funding opportunities related to economic and tourism development;Act as the Shire''s key point of contact for prospective investment and business enquiries;Grow strategic partnerships, with a specific focus on close working relationships with the Peel Development Commission, Regional Development Australia, Peel Chamber of Commerce, Business SJ, Perth Hills Tourism Alliance, Visit Perth! and Education Institutions;Coordinate cross-agency infrastructure advocacy projects, particularly focusing on attracting further education and infrastructure investment for the Shire.Our successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following qualifications and skillset:University level Bachelor of Economics, Business or Commerce.Some economic development experience, particularly at the local government and community level, which demonstrates relevant knowledge and project successes in driving local economic development.Ability to undertake relevant actions associated with economic development and tourism related projects, from formulation, evaluation, implementation including ongoing monitoring and review.Ability to provide clear economic advice and data, with the ability to communicate the opportunities and challenges associated with various economic development choices, in a diverse organisation setting.Strong ability to set priorities and provide outcomes that are timely, accurate and to a professional standard, and which adhere to achieving expected actions.High level negotiation and conflict resolution skills.Strategic communication skills (both written and verbal) for liaising with internal and external stakeholders, and the ability to discern critical insight into issues and communicate such insight to other parties.Proven ability to build and sustain excellent working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Ability to create and maintain web-based information that promotes an innovative and attractive landscape for business investment and economic promotion.If you have any questions regarding this opportunity, feel free to contact the Director of Development Services, Andrew Trosic, on 9526 1111.The Important Stuff!An attractive salary of up to $108,645.00 per annum plus a vehicle allowance of $15,964.00 is on offer dependent on experience.BenefitsNot only will you have the opportunity to be part of a place that is growing rapidly whilst protecting its unique natural character, you will have access to other great benefits including:Free local gym membership.Wellness programs including Fitness passport.Free counselling, health assessments and health insurance discounts, annual flu vaccination and skin cancer screening.22kW AC Charger for electric vehicles.Two additional Local Government days off per year.The option of Purchased Leave.Salary packaging options, including novated leasing.Professional development opportunities - study leave and study assistance.Free Onsite Parking.About the Shire!Located in Mundijong just 45 minutes from the Perth CBD on the picturesque backdrop of the Darling Scarp, our Shire is one of the fastest growing Local Governments in Australia.Our community comes from all walks of life and so do we.
