This role is pivotal in ensuring that quality standards are consistently met throughout the development lifecycle in client engagements and that the engineering teams are empowered to deliver high-quality products efficiently, with teams that are both onshore and offshore.Role DescriptionThe Quality Engineering Practice Lead will be responsible for driving and overseeing quality engineering strategies, frameworks, and pre-sales engagement across multiple industry verticals. This role is pivotal in ensuring that quality standards are consistently met throughout the development lifecycle in client engagements and that the engineering teams are empowered to deliver high-quality products efficiently, with teams that are both onshore and offshore.The role requires a mix of hands-on quality engineering expertise, leadership experience, and the ability to support our sales team in opening accounts through in-depth knowledge of the Quality Engineering capability within UST and your own relationships in the Australian IT market.Key ResponsibilitiesPractice Development & Growth:Strategy Development: Define and execute a strategic roadmap to grow the software testing practice in Australia, ensuring alignment with overall company goals.Client Acquisition & Retention: Drive business development initiatives to acquire new clients and ensure long-term relationships with existing clients. Identify client pain points and design tailored testing solutions.Market Expansion: Analyse the Australian market and identify new business opportunities, partnerships, and potential clients in various industry verticals.Solution Selling: Collaborate with sales and business development teams to present value propositions to potential clients, demonstrating how our testing services will solve their challenges.Leadership & Strategy:Lead and mentor a team of quality engineers, providing guidance and professional development.Develop and implement a strategic quality engineering roadmap aligned with the companys objectives and product development needs.Establish and continuously improve QA best practices, tools, processes, and methodologies to enhance the quality of software products.Foster a culture of quality across the engineering teams, ensuring quality principles are integrated from the start of the development lifecycle.Quality Engineering Excellence:Design and implement scalable, automated test strategies (unit, integration, functional, regression) to ensure high test coverage and product reliability.Ensure that testing processes are efficient, repeatable, and measurable.Evaluate and recommend new testing tools, technologies, and practices to keep pace with industry trends and technology advancements.Perform hands-on testing and participate in test planning, execution, and reviews when necessary.Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:Work closely with product managers, developers, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and expectations around product quality.Act as a quality advocate, promoting the importance of quality across the product lifecycle and ensuring that business and technical requirements are aligned.Provide regular reports and metrics on the quality of the product and the efficiency of the QA process.Continuous Improvement:Analyse test results, defects, and production issues to identify areas of improvement in quality practices.Champion the continuous improvement of quality metrics and KPIs, focusing on reducing defects, cycle times, and improving overall product quality.Facilitate retrospectives and knowledge-sharing sessions to continuously refine processes and resolve bottlenecks.Required Skills And Experience15+ years of experience in test automation, functional testing, CI/CD pipelines, and performance testing.Ability to provide advisory services to clients on testing strategies, efficiency improvements and quality engineering.Proven ability in growing teams in a consulting company utilising a testing capability.Ability to present solutions addressing testing scenarios/problems to clients.Known relationships in the Australian market which can be leveraged to open accounts with the testing capability.Willingness to be accountable to a sales revenue figure as part of your KPIs.Prior experience leading or managing quality assurance teams in Agile/Scrum environments.Strong understanding of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle), including Agile and DevOps practices.Proficiency in test automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Appium, TestNG, Cucumber, Postman, Rest Assured, and JMeter).Knowledge of performance testing and security testing tools.Excellent leadership and team management skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.Analytical mindset with a passion for solving complex problems.Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.Desired SkillsCertifications in Quality Engineering or Agile (e.g., ISTQB, Certified ScrumMaster, etc.).Experience in cloud-based testing (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).Experience in working with large-scale, complex systems and platforms.Benefits & PerksFlexible/hybrid working arrangements.Health insurance.Novated Car Lease.Access to UST Perks (Reward Gateway), which offers discounts across major retailers.Our commitment to Diversity, Equity and InclusionDiversity and Inclusion are among the founding blocks of how UST as an organisation translates its values of Humility, Humanity, and Integrity into practice.About USTFor more than 25 years, UST has worked side by side with the world''s best companies to make a real impact through digital transformation.
