We continually strive to create a high-performance workplace that is characterised by creativity, innovation, flexibility, and quality delivery.About the roleJustice Richards is seeking a legally qualified individual to be her associate commencing on 25 August, 2025. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in civil and criminal appellate work in the Court of Appeal division of the Supreme Court of Victoria, and to closely observe the work of advocates and the judiciary.The duties of an associate are detailed in the attached position description but specifically include:assisting in the management and coordination of the Judge''s judicial and administrative responsibilities;preparing research memoranda, case summaries and assisting in the production of judgments, including proofreading and editing;clerking in Court, using courtroom technology to ensure proceedings are transcribed and technological aids are readily available to counsel;providing administrative assistance to the Judge during hearings and in chambers;assisting in managing the Judge''s chambers; andaccompanying the Judge to circuit courts in regional Victoria, as and when required.The role requires a high degree of sensitivity and professionalism as you will be working closely with judicial officers, court staff, legal practitioners and members of the public.About youThe successful applicant must be admitted to legal practice; 12 to 18 months postadmission experience is desirable but not essential. Excellent research, writing and typing skills, proficiency in grammar and a strong academic record are essential.
