SYDNEY | STAFF SPECIALIST GENERAL ADULT OR FORENSIC PSYCHIATRYI am currently representing a well-known Forensic Hospital in the heart of Sydney who are looking for a Psychiatrist Consultant to join their mental health team.FAST FACTSMust hold either Forensic psychiatry of General Adult Psychiatry experience, and where relevant, subspecialty experience in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (or willingness to work towards)Sydney locationFull time, Perm position available part time will also be consideredRecognition and Awards programAttractive salary packaging options plus additional allowances applyPosition:This position provides specialist assessment and ongoing care of patients with psychiatric disorders in correctional campuses and/or forensic settings administered by the Mental Health Network in accordance with best evidence-based practice and organisational policies.To conduct comprehensive psychiatric diagnostic assessments and ongoing reviews of patients. Following such assessments and reviews, to provide evidence-based treatment as appropriate, and/or reports with treatment plans/recommendations to other members of the multi-disciplinary team.To facilitate continuity of care by the timely writing of discharge summaries and appropriate communication with outside agencies.To actively participate in the proceedings when patients are being presented before a Magistrate, Mental Health Review Tribunal and Guardianship Board, by providing medical reports and/or giving evidence in person.To maintain a current working knowledge of the relevant legislation (health and criminal) pertaining to persons within the correctional setting and the mentally ill person and to incorporate the changes to mental health legislation into clinical practice.Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of new and innovative clinical services as required by the strategic directions of the Psychiatry service.Adherence to standards of safe practice in accordance with legislation and NSW Health and Justice Health policies.Participate in telephone consultations as required, including after-hours services provision.Participate as required in metro and rural locum services.Preparedness to act-up in a more senior role to cover leave.Be involved in the teaching and supervision of junior medical staff, and medical students as negotiated with the Clinical Director.At the direction of the Clinical Director participate in relevant in-service and research activities undertaken by the stream.Participation in performance review process as per organisational requirements.Undertake professional development in accordance with professional requirements.The Hospital:With multiple locations available in Sydney this opportunity could include any of Sydneys major hospitals.
