This is a hands-on leadership role that balances clinical coordination, staff development, and operational excellence.Key responsibilities include:Delivering culturally safe, comprehensive primary health careLeading and mentoring staff, including Aboriginal Health PractitionersManaging rosters, administration, pharmacy, and clinic resourcesOverseeing patient systems, records, and care coordination (Communicare)Driving Continuous Quality Improvement and accreditation complianceCollaborating with partners to strengthen health outcomesPromoting health literacy and addressing social determinantsManaging clinic budgets and participating in the on-call rosterYour First Few Weeks What to ExpectAt Sunrise, leadership begins with connection. In your first month, youll:Travel to Ngukurr or Mataranka and immerse yourself in the communityMeet clinic staff, board members, and local leadersObserve current operations and models of careEstablish visibility, trust, and team rapportBegin identifying strengths and opportunities for service improvementThis foundational period sets you up for success, grounded in purpose, people, and place.The Person We Need to Champion Community CareYoull need to be a Registered Nurse or Aboriginal Health Practitioner, with AHPRA registration, and hold:First Aid CertificateA National Criminal History CheckUp-to-date vaccinations to work with vulnerable peopleYoull also bring:Broad experience in primary health care, ideally in remote Aboriginal contextsStrong team leadership and clinic operations management skillsAbility to mentor, guide, and build capacity within Indigenous health teamsClear written and verbal communication, and stakeholder collaborationUnderstanding of Aboriginal culture and commitment to culturally safe practiceFamiliarity with Communicare and community-controlled health environmentsAbove all, you are empathetic, adaptable, and positive in your leadership style.
