We also offer company-provided short-term disability, an employee assistance program, and a wellness program.Position OverviewThe Senior Underwriter is responsible for underwriting and clearing conditions for Agency and/or Non-Agency loans. The Senior Underwriter communicates all mortgage loan guidelines to Loan Processors and Loan Officers.Job ResponsibilitiesMaintain a pipeline within the companys standards: 24-hour turn-around time for final underwrite and 48-hour turn-around time for upfront.Analyze and access risk for initial credit decision based on company checklists, internal guides, Agency guides and Investor guides.Communicate errors and missing information to processor via email and/or telephone.Adjust condition sheet in Encompass with applicable conditions.Review resubmission as items are gathered and submitted by the processor.Issue final approval uploading all necessary approval documentation into Encompass with appropriate signatures.Collaborate with internal departments on any stipulations for closed files.Maintain a high level of confidentiality.Qualifications And SkillsBachelors degree and/or equivalent combination of education/experience.SAR and/or DE, preferred.Minimum 5 years of mortgage underwriter experience, preferred.Working knowledge of mortgage banking software, mortgage underwriting, loans, purchase, and refinance transactions.Experience Underwriting USDA and Bond programs, a plus.Excellent customer service, communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.This job description is intended to convey information essential to understanding the scope of the job and the general nature and level of work performed by job holders within this job.
