The Senior Construction Officer, Exhibition Workshop will work as part of a project team, taking a lead role in the workshop for the construction of set works for Queensland Museum exhibitions, collection displays, and other public program projects.Key Responsibilities:Oversee workshop activities including planning, coordinating, and assigning tasks to the Construction and Installation Officers for building, assembling, and moving set works constructions such as walls, plinths, display cabinets, showcases, and furniture.Develop work plans and schedules to coordinate tasks across multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget and quality standards, and provide progress updates.Identify and apply suitable construction techniques and methods to realize design concepts, ensuring high-quality finishes that meet QM standards.Interpret design and engineering specifications to identify potential issues, and advise on timeframes, resourcing, and budget requirements.Undertake material testing and create prototypes to provide feedback to designers on material practicality, in collaboration with Supervisors.Comply with SOPs, regulations, codes, and WHS standards, including manual handling procedures.Maintain the general upkeep of the workshop, setting standards for conduct, equipment maintenance, and cleanliness.Provide training and guidance to team members to enhance their skills and ensure work is completed satisfactorily and on time.Collaborate with other staff to clarify design specifications and facilitate the construction process.Assist with the movement and installation of artifacts both within the Museum galleries and at off-site locations.Deliver trade-quality construction and fabrication services to support Museum departments in maintaining high standards for displays and facilities.Adhere to QM policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.Applicants are encouraged to review the attached role description and discuss any questions with the contact officer.
