Westmead HospitalFixed Term (12 months) 1.0 FTE Postgraduate FellowDepartment of Intensive Care ServiceCLICK HERE TO APPLYApplications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for a Postgraduate Fellow in Intensive Care in the Western Sydney Local Health District. The position will be located at Westmead Hospital within the Department of Intensive Care Service.Successful applicants will be senior medical practitioners qualified as a Specialist in Intensive Care Medicine Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within three months may be considered. If successful, the applicant may not be subsequently eligible to commence their appointment until after the relevant qualifications and requirements are formally completed.The position will be for a period of twelve months for the 2026 clinical Year.Western Sydney Local Health District is responsible for the provision of health services to the local government area comprised of Auburn, Baulkham Hills, Blacktown, Holroyd, and Parramatta and tertiary care. These services are provided through a number of hospital and community-based facilities located strategically across the District.Western Sydney Local Health District is committed to achieving continuous quality improvement in client services within a Quality Management framework, with a supporting Strategic Plan aimed at the continuous improvement of all facilities. The District has individual facilities located at Westmead, Cumberland, Auburn, Blacktown and Mount Druitt.Westmead Intensive Care Service is the tertiary referral ICU for Western Sydney, with a large general and post cardiac surgical patient throughput. The ICS admits a broad range of critically ill trauma, neurosurgical, medical, cardiothoracic and general surgical patients. Westmead ICS incorporates 37 general, and 12 post cardiac surgical beds.Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Staff Specialists (State) Award.Please outline how you satisfy the selection criteria listed below. In addressing the selection criteria, include any relevant skills, knowledge, qualifications and experience:1. Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the college of Intensive Care Medicine as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award.2. Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency.3. Sound and broad clinical knowledge in Intensive Care Medicine demonstrated through recent clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position.4. Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including: High level interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team. Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and evidence-based best practice. Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision5. Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied or clinical research within the Department.Working With Children CheckApplicants must provide evidence of a Working with Children Check issued by the Office of Communities Commission for Children and Young People.
