Responsible for assisting in the creation of strategies and the direct oversight of the execution of plans and tactics used to focus on increasing direct revenue for the property. Responsible for growing existing accounts and generating new business to ensure that revenues meet or exceed budget in order to maximize revenue and profits, and to improve the hotels performance in the marketplace.Direct and manage all group sales activities to maximize revenue for the hotelDevelops sales plans and strategies to meet or exceed established revenue and room night goals, and other reports as directed/requiredCollaborate with the DOSM to develop rates, group ceilings and deployment strategies through review of competitive data, demand analysis and mix managementRecruit, direct, manage, train and counsel group sales staff.Oversee departmental matters as they relate to federal, state and local employment and civil rights lawsParticipate in sales presentations, property tours and customer meetingsConduct and attend business review meetings, strategic sales meetings, management meetings and other meetings as required/ requestedRepresent the hotel in community and industry organizations and eventsParticipate as team player with other key leadership membersBe a leader and role model to all team membersSupervise, administer and ensure timely completion of all activities of the Sales DepartmentDevelop a full working knowledge of the operations of the hotel, including Food and Beverage, Guest Services, Front Office, Housekeeping and Revenue ManagementDevelop a complete knowledge of company sales policies and SOPs, and ensure knowledge of and adherence to those policies by the group sales teamLeads Tentative Meetings and develops action plans to improve booking pace and productivity.Evaluates new and incremental business opportunities/promotions to maximize revenue for the hotels.Responds to sales inquiries, initiates new sales, prospects and qualifies leads and solicits potential clients, conducts site visits and answers questions, determines rates, prepares proposals, negotiates contracts, services accounts and analyzes lost business for the hotel/s.Meet or exceed established goalsAdministers Group Sales Department expensesCoordinate group bookings to maximize profitsInitiate and follow up on leadsMonitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within said market. Ensure group sales team is held accountable for those accounts within their respective territoriesInterviews, trains, supervises, counsels, schedules and evaluates Group Sales Managers.Assist in the preparation of required reports in a timely mannerAttend weekly sales meetings and daily line upsIn collaboration with the Director of Conference Services review meeting planner evaluations to uncover opportunities and maintain positive scoresWorks with various departments to ensure requested services are provided to customers.Any other reasonable duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.We recognize we are in the hospitality industry and that may require us to provide lateral service. Interact with other department personnel and venue staff as needed.Make decisions and take actions based on previous experience and good judgment, sometimes revising procedures to accommodate unusual situations.To be aware of and ensure constant compliance with all necessary operational policies including:Health and SafetyFood HygieneMaintenanceEmergency ProceduresLiquor LicensingSUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONSIn addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.Attend mandatory meetings including divisional meetings, staff meetings, etc.Participate in community events and ensure corporate social responsibility goals of SLS are met.Utilize traditional software programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), Micros, ADP, Open Table and any departmental specific systems used.Keep work area clean and organized.Ensure confidential documents are kept in a secured area.When disposing confidential documents that contain any personally identifiable information, they must be shredded or pulverized.Complete other duties as assigned by the Department Head.Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics, which inspire Team Members to meet and exceed standards.Ensure compliance with SLSs policies and procedures.OTHER DUTIESAssimilate into SLSs culture through understanding, supporting and participating in all SLS elements. Demonstrate working knowledge of the service standards.Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by SLS from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the property.QualificationsThe individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.Bachelors Degree preferredMinimum five (5) years of sales leadership experience in similar sized operation required, preferably in an upscale and/or lifestyle brand hotelMust have comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage, catering sales, conference service and marketing management experience, guest relations and etiquetteBasic understanding of legal contract languageProven team leader with a high level of energy and motivation with a proven track record of living the company''s valuesAn intermediate to proficient understanding of Computer systems such as: Opera, Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook is preferredEnter and locate work related information using computers and/or point of sale systemsAbility to spend extended lengths of time viewing a computer screenPossess a gracious, friendly, and fun demeanorAbility to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment and have a high level attention to detailMaintain positive and productive working relationships with other employees and departmentsAbility to work independently and to partner with others to promote an environment of teamworkMust be able to stand or walk a minimum eight-hour shift.Must be able observant and quick to respond to various situations while also multitasking and handling stressful situations.Must be able to twist, tow (push or pull), reach, bend climb and carry objects as necessary.Must have excellent communication skills and be able to read, write, speak and understand English.Must be able to work inside and outside at all times of the year as needed, based upon business volumes.Knowledge of federal, state and local laws governing equal employment opportunity and civil rights, occupational safety and health, wage and hour issues, and labor relationsAdditional InformationSAFETY REQUIREMENTSPersonal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required when performing work duties that may have the potential of risk to your health or safety.
