The values that underpin all of our work are Person Centered, Respect, Best Practice, Accountability and Teamwork.The organisation is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors committed to best practice, compliance, and continuous improvement in aged care.Purpose of the RoleThe Volunteer Board Member Clinical Governance acts as a Non-Executive Director on the governance Board of Woolgoolga Retirement Village Ltd. The position plays a vital role in providing clinical oversight, strategic guidance, and risk management advice, ensuring the organisation maintains excellence in care, safety, and regulatory compliance.As a Responsible Person under the Aged Care Act, the Board Member must meet all legislative requirements for integrity, fitness, and propriety. The role includes chairing the Clinical Governance Sub-Committee, contributing to advisory committees, and supporting the review of clinical policies, procedures, and systems to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and standards.Key ResponsibilitiesFulfil duties as a Responsible Person in accordance with the Aged Care Act.Provide governance oversight of clinical operations within Woolgoolga Aged Care Centre.Chair the Clinical Governance Sub-Committee.Lead and contribute to Clinical advisory committees.Report to the Board on clinical governance matters.Support and contribute to the review and development of clinical and organisational policies and procedures.Promote a culture of quality, safety, and transparency.Qualifications and ExperienceEssential:Current registration with AHPRA in a clinical field.At least 10 years clinical experience.Demonstrated leadership in clinical governance or quality assurance.Understanding of the Aged Care Quality Standards and Aged Care Act.Familiarity with the Retirement Villages Act 1999 (NSW).Desirable:Graduate of the AICD Company Directors Course.Prior experience as a Board or Committee Member.Personal AttributesHigh ethical standards and integritySound clinical judgment and strategic insightCommitment to resident-centred careCollaborative and inclusive communication stylePassion for improving the quality of life for older AustraliansTime CommitmentAttend approximately 10-14 board and sub-committee meetings annuallyParticipate in strategic planning sessions and additional committee workPreparation and engagement time expected outside of meetings Compliance and EligibilityMust satisfy the fit and proper person requirements under the Aged Care ActCompletion of a National Police Check and AHPRA registration verificationAnnual declaration of conflicts of interest and governance complianceMust not be disqualified from managing corporations or providing aged careRemunerationThis is a voluntary/pro-bono, unpaid role.
