It is a hybrid position requiring at least three days per week in the office. Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer for Mercer Super, the Head of Compliance is a key leadership role responsible for managing regulatory complexities and ensuring adherence to applicable laws and regulations. Responsibilities include overseeing breach assessments, maintaining the obligations library, and acting as the Conflicts Officer for Mercer Super. This leadership role is within the Line 2 Mercer Super risk team. Candidates must have experience in the superannuation sector. While prior leadership experience is preferred, exceptional individuals seeking their first leadership role are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will possess strong risk and compliance knowledge, resilience, change management skills, and the ability to engage in constructive, member-focused conversations. Key Responsibilities: Lead, mentor, and develop the Compliance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth. Set exemplary standards in conduct and work, exemplifying best practices in compliance management. Provide expert compliance advice and support to Line 1 business units, managing compliance and regulatory risks effectively. Oversee the obligations register within the GRC system, ensuring its comprehensiveness and relevance. Review incidents and breach assessments, collaborating with MMC colleagues to escalate concerns. Build strong relationships with stakeholders, presenting compliance plans and updates to senior management and committees. Essential Qualifications and Experience: Tertiary qualifications in a business-related discipline. Extensive experience in compliance or legal functions within financial services, preferably in superannuation. 2-3 years in a similar compliance role with a proven track record. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Desirable Attributes: Experience leading compliance teams. Deep knowledge of compliance and risk frameworks, including obligations registers. Strong critical thinking and stakeholder management skills. Adaptability to change and a proactive approach.
