The opportunity is for an individual with 5 years post admission experience. The Corporate Counsel provides legal advice and supports various departments within Jacobs focusing on contract reviews and negotiations and corporate governance. The successful candidate will support Jacobs business across various countries such as Hong Kong, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore.It is imperative that the candidate not only has requisite qualifications but also exceptional interpersonal and communication skills as they will interact directly with the business across borders and at all levels. In return, we will provide exposure to a wide range of projects across the business and an unparalleled opportunity for developing an in-house career in an excellent working environment.Provides effective legal support to Jacobs business by partnering with project teams to identify and manage legal and contractual risks to Jacobs during contract negotiations and project deliveryProvides strategic legal advice on a wide range of matters to the businessReviews and negotiates of a variety of contracts (as well as industry standard forms including FIDIC, NEC etc.) ensuring alignment with business objectives and legal standardsActively supports contract negotiations with the objective to minimize risk exposure in line with internal policies and proceduresUnderstands Jacobs approach to risk and is able to identify risks and seek input from other members of legal team and relevant stakeholders to ensure that concerns are duly addressed and mitigatedMonitors evolving legislation and industry trends that may impact the businessMaintains organized filing and documentationActively supports the development of the legal team knowledge management systemsDevelops and delivers training to the business to facilitate greater understanding in relation to contract provisions, risks and negotiationsCollaborate with cross functional teams to provide legal insights that support strategic initiativesWe value collaboration and believe that in-person interactions are crucial for both our culture and client delivery. We empower employees with our hybrid working policy, allowing them to split their work week between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations enabling them to deliver their best work.Here''s what you''ll needThe successful candidate will need to demonstrate clear and effective communication style, and the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, as well as possess an ability to identify risk and have a good commercial awareness.In addition you will possess the following qualifications and skills ;With an LLB Degree from a recognised institutionAdmitted to the Bar (Local or otherwise)5 years post admission experience. Some experience working in-house preferably in a multi-national organisation would be highly regardedA background in an engineering consulting or similar industry will be an added advantageGood understanding of business fundamentals and risk managementStrong interpersonal skills and capable of building relationships with stakeholders at all levelsAble to communicate clearly and effectively- articulate and concise and excels in communication both verbally and in writingExperience and ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and manage multiple prioritiesProactive approach to identifying issues and driving solutions and possesses strong problem solving and analytical skillsAble to provide legal advice whilst understanding commercial principles and business objectivesImpeccable attention to detail and a positive attitudeAbility to work independently and delivers responsibilities in a timely manner and to a high standardStrong work ethic, accountable and highly responsiveCandidates must possess valid work rights to be eligible for employment in MalaysiaKey Knowledge/skillsFluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Proficiency in Mandarin and Bahasa Indonesia are advantageousSoftware skills - Microsoft Office suite (proficiency in Word, Power Point, Microsoft Teams and Excel)Ability to leverage technology to enhance legal operations and efficienciesJacobs.
